And then in today's scientific climate, where we are picking apart dna with tiny tweezers and landing man on the moon - the lowest common denominator decides to challenge evolution.

We are devolving. So like 1/x we will never reach 0, but we can try!

There have been a few thousand years of philosophy and advancement since then so they are incomparable in the way you suggest. The fact remains the polythiestic cultures are resoponsible for a lot of the foundations of modern ones.

The rise of monothiesm did not necessarily spur advancement. The Roman Catholic church is living proof of that.
