I did the math and figured out I made $0.24 an hour playing WoW. I could have picked up cans and did better. I'm glad I enjoyed it though

i made over 15,000 playing everquest. took me about 3.5 years, but it paid for most of a car and a new computer. WoW is lame, but good job on selling your account to some idiot. i know the feeling.

I made $1200 off my DAoC account, the WoW market is a little different since it is flooded w/ accounts.

Mine was a 60 mage in teir 2 gear w/ 1800 gold. I let it go for half as much as it was worth to my guild since the gear on my back couldnt have been acquired without them ^^

i made 2600 on a warrior in everquest. he was completely naked...no money, armor, items, etc. the reason he was worth so much was because his ability points were almost maxed...i had 750+ when everyone else was still working to get 15 or 20. it made him god-like in almost every way...

i still remember the guy i sold it to (this was in 2002). he just graduated from georgia tech and was moving to alaska. it was an interesting conversation/sale.

People pay that much for RPG characters?!! Wow, I always knew those games were dangerous, I used to be addicted to some of those stupid text-based RPG games. I quit when I realized it was taking up waaaay to much of my time and life. I now stay far away from them. I have realized that FPS games are much better, because you can pick them up, play for a while, then go to school or work, and never have those annoying little thoughts in the back of your mind about what you want to do with your character when you get home.

I seriously think there is something wrong when you are spending thousands of dollars on a virtual life like that... It would be an interesting topic for a psychology study...

yeah, it's weird to most of us but those with the money to do it don't think anything of it. I still remember selling D2 items at the beginning of I think the 2nd ladder season. One shako for $30.

My first char i sold was my EQ wizard... lvl 47 (when max was 50).... for $1500. There were only a handful of 50s at the time, so 47 was pretty valuable. I sold mine to an associated prof at Berkeley.

You guys should put how much time you spent on your character along with the price you sold it for. Ya, you got $1500 for your character, but what people don't know is that you spent probably 150-200 hours just playing to get your character to that point.

EDIT: Forgot to reply to the original topic! I love my X-Fi Platinum card, wouldn't give it back for a second. Enjoy the RAM also!

My play time was 59.50 days

roughly 60 days played times 24 hours.


1440 hours I played the game.

I started the first day it came out so 2 complete months of last year was spent playing WoW.




BTW, I sold the account to a guildmate.

i had 9 accounts at once, played 3 at a time on 3 computers (using EQ windows). it spent probably 125-150 hours getting my first level 50, and then after that it was easy to powerlevel the rest to 50. then when kunark was released i got them all to 60 pretty quickly. after the level cap was raised to 65, did the same thing there. i spent a lot of time on my warrior and getting him ability points, so i probably put in about 2 years of off and on playing time over 9 accounts, but i was in high school. i made good grades, played football, baseball, rugby, and had a girlfriend (still have that girlfriend btw), so i didnt devote my life to it.

basically i just played for a long time everyday at night and after i got sick of it i sold all 9 accounts and 2 of the computers.

then i played star wars galaxies, got a jedi (one of the first), and sold it on ebay for 1320. i spent about 3 months playing off and on...probably put 100 hours into the character, but i spent a ton of time actually having fun in this game. my brother in law and a friend played, so we would form hunting parties almost everyday and basically screw around.

then i took up city of heroes. i had (and still have but dont play right now) 6 accounts, all with at least 1 level 50 (max level). i may or may not play CoH again, not sure yet. i am very focused on getting an internship next summer, so i need to focus on school.
