I had a dream I bought two 2405fpw's last night, LOL!

Anyone else with input to offer?

I'd wait for the Dell 2405fpw cause you can use it with a ps3, where all the games are 1080p!!!!

Plus maybe now the cards might not be able to handle 1920X1080 in most games, but it a couple months the next gen cards will come out and they will be able to do 1920X1080 easily

He's obviously one of those guys that has to have the absolute best, can't handle low frames and/or bumping down resolution or image quality. Its like he's implying 1920x1200 is all that much more stressful than 1600x1200, which my single card X800XL can handle just fine on all my games. Although I would probably agree that it would be a shame to deny such a beautiful display of anything but the best image quality and smooth frames.

You can almost always bump down the resolution on LCDs for games, because you aren't reading fine texts, it generally isn't noticable to the point its a distraction. Granted, for 5:4 LCDs (all 17-19"ers) you can't really do that seeing as how all other resoltions aren't going to be 5:4, so you'll have a 4:3 image stretched into your 5:4 screen making everything look squished from the sides. With a 16:10 panel you could always scale it back to another 16:10 resoultion to save on frames.

That's not it at all. It's not the resolution, it's the response time. If you want "lower" resolutions (i.e. 1280x1024) you can run them on the Dell monitors because they can do 1:1 without scaling.

I just returned my 2005FPW because the ghosting was too bad. You can't play multiplayer FPS WELL with a monitor that doesn't have excellent response times. I picked up a ViewSonic VP191b which has been great. It still ghosts a LITTLE compared to a CRT but it's noticibly better than the 12ms claimed/16ms real response panels that Dell is using.

Hmm....appears the 2405fpw has gone on sale for $959 shipped (no tax in NH).

This is very tempting. Should I buy it now or wait and hope it goes lower within a month or so?
