I want to control

How do i do it. I want to see the desktop and all the stuff, and want to have some sort of elementary control over it. I understand that there are third party programs that can do it, and i would like to know if any of you have any experience with them.

Names of the programs would be appreciated.

Windows XP Pro /MCE built in...
PC anywhere...

heck you could even use netmeeting and get remote desktop

If you don't want to deal with opening firewalls/router ports then I would recommend www.logmein.com. I have been using it for several months. They have a free edition that allows remote access but you can't transfer files or remote print (the pay version has it).

Remote Desktop is built into XP Pro, Server 2003, and a few other version of Windows, as mentioned above. It's possibly my favorite tool, though it does have a couple of limitations.

VNC programs are also good alternatives, but they don't deal with low bandwidth very well. If you go VNC I'd suggest Real VNC or Ultra VNC.

Both of those tools will require open ports in your firewall/router.
