Metrosexual = pretending to be gay so women like you. Not a fan of that. Be straight for crying out loud and date women.

These are all very manly looks. Why is it now OK for a man to wear pink shirts and still be straight? Men too, are so very pretty nowdays. IE Tom Welling. In many promo ads, they even apply a hedious amount of makeup such as lipstick and eye liner. What the hell?

You are confusing culture, for example: shirt color and what traits that determine beauty and gender, male and female.

Gender:
Men have penises
Women have vulva

Culture:
Heterosexual men wearing pink shirs was okay in the early 1970's
Homosexual men wore ear rings in the late 1970's.
To some degree different cultures have a different ideal of beauty.

You're confusing sex and gender. Sex is your sexual assignment, gender is characteristics commonly associated with a sex.

yes people come in all sorts of sizes and shapes. But there is an ideal. And it is for women to be 5'4''.

i'm pretty pissed with this whole metrosexual 'get in touch with your feminine side' shitza. i'm down with sensitivity/being an active parent and other character traits but a man oughta look like a man. pop a pimple, eat chewing gum and get jaw definition, rub your jaw with dry ice while nursing razorburn, look like a bum for a change, grow some hair on your legs....real men don't have to look like Ricky Martin.

Chuck Norris for the Win. In Chuck, We Trust.

P.S. Tall height doesn't make women look masculine. Heard of Nicole Kidman? And Jolie does NOT look like a man. Sandra Bullock=Yes. I had this pic a long time ago where I could see the resemblance she shared with Michael Jackson. But I guess you could argue Mikey Jacko looks like a woman....

jaw definition is in the bone structure. Not sure you could build it.

I'm not a scholar, but my take on it is that tall and handsome women came into style in the Classical era (18th, 19th centuries), along with a throwback to the art and aesthetic of ancient Rome and Greece. The Greeks preferred their women like that, but if you look at the art made in Europe before that period many of the women are plumper and more roundly featured (in their faces).

Maybe because faces with strong jawlines photograph well. People with soft or non-existant jawlines look wierd or strange in photographs or on the catwalk. Tom Welling has some feminine features - e.g., pouty lips. But note that he has a very defined jaw line (altho his jaw is a bit small at the front, giving him a somewhat childlike look).

I noticed his jaw is very large (like brad pitt) but his cheekbones are very 'native american' making his jaw seem smaller. His jaw is indeed short giving him a seemingly small chin/overbite. He is still as perfect as they come. You do not need a large jaw to photograph well, just a skinny face. IE. Mischa Barton. She doesn't have a really large, square jaw, just a lean face. The camera loves her. She is the quintessence of beautiful woman.

do you see cowboys wearing pink?

No. But what does it matter in life? It doesn't matter EVER if a cowboy wants to wear a pink shirt or a woman has masculine features.
