For regular groceries Sprouts has pretty decent prices, not too different from mainline grocery stores. They also sell a bunch of organic/healthfood stuff that costs more. Amazon wrecked Whole Foods, don't waste your time there. Trader Joe's is a wino outlet that sells party foods on the side.

Curious how Amazon wrecked WholeFoods. I've never been in one. The closest to me afaik is in the city, and I avoid the city as much as possible anymore.

I thought Sprout's prices were decent. The store's brand new, so there may be some overly competitive pricing going on for a little while, but we'll see.

Only been in TraderJoes once, but I liked them. Before Sprouts showed up, I was wishing a TraderJoes came. They'd be a good companion to aldi.

13C (55F) today. A break from the heat wave. Would be a nice day to do work on the garage but I'm at work. I'm mostly done with garage though until the concrete is poured then need to order lumber. Lots of misc things to do though like put holes for future security cameras etc while walls are still open.

A cool front is supposed to sweep the nation (or much of it) within the next 24 hours. Maybe it's begun up north. Should be 6 °F or so below average for the rest of the week.

I'm still waiting - at 98°F now - should top out at 88° tomorrow.

I did not realize full serve gas stations were still a thing. Hey at least there's shade! But yeah that would suck being in that heat and those fumes all day. That can't be healthy. That's not the type of job where yo can go to the bathroom at any time either so not like you can drink lot of water. You probably only get to go on your break.

IIRC NJ forbids people from pumping their own gas. You have to have the attendant do it.

We are the last state. I'm sure that when it's slow he can run inside to get a drink. I live at a summer resort, so it was slammed on Sunday. The gas station had a line of cars, and everybody had their cars on because of the heat. Totally unhealthy.

Oregon still requires gas station attendants to pump your gas...but they're considering making changes to that. Last story I saw said 25% of the pumps in a station could be converted to self-serve. For the most part, prices in Oregon along I-5 are the same or cheaper than here in W. Wa.


Anyway...woke up to 58 degrees and foggy this morning. Headed for a high temp of around 70-72. Nice start for the big "scooter-trash" convention here this weekend.

104 today, 107 tomorrow and 110 on Sunday. My pool is about a nice "cool" 86F when I checked last night. Still refreshing compared to ambient temp but man...I hopped in, got out, mowed a section of lawn, jumped back in, hopped back out etc. Took at least twice as long, but f*ck it. I mowed in swim shorts and a hat. All my glorious rolls were on display for my neighbors to see and no sh*ts given. Ha!
