i5-3570k temperatures high?

When running prime95 blend test, my i5-3570k core temperatures range from 100 - 105c on the stock HSF, which according to my reading is high. The fun part is that I've had this system for over 2 years now and it's always been like that. I was just doing a regular case dusting earlier and figured I should probably investigate more.

I took off the stock HSF and re-applied thermal paste, and re-mounted it. Same thing. I hear all four clicks when I plug it into the motherboard, and I can verify on the bottom of the board that all the little black pins are poking through properly and everything feels tightly attached. I can verify when I take the HSF off that thermal paste is making contact between the HSF and CPU. I only put a small amount of paste on there so it shouldn't be excessive.

Ambient room temperatures are 75F, so nothing unusual there. The case has plenty of fans and all other temperature readings in the case are under 40c. All BIOS settings are stock, CPU voltage is stock. Motherboard is a MSI Z77MA-G45.

Any ideas on what I'm missing? From what I've read temps shouldn't get too far above 80c on the stock cooler, so I can't figure out why mine are so high. The system is completely stable and has been, but I'd like to figure out why it's running hot.

With a good after market cooler you can only hope to get 10-12degrees below ambient temps.

That board has limited options, and you can't undervolt. Check for latest bios & get a better HSF. Stop using Prime to test.

I get that the stock HSF sucks, but are those normal temps for it? And what's wrong with using Prime to generate some heat?

Try reseat the heatsink. Something is obviously wrong. At stock settings you should be around 20C lower.

Also make sure you dont use multicore enhancement or what else your mobo maker may call it. Since it will jack up the voltage while doing turbo overclocking.
