Slight chance of a 770 coming close to a 780 when oced, not all 770s clock the same. Mine is a absolute lemon and it took BF4 to show instabilities which i never saw before lol. 1241/7600 is typical but mine won't even stay stable for 2 mins at those clocks.

If someone has the money for a 780, don't even bother taking the chance of buying a 4gb 770 just to oc it to see if you can get 780 performance.

Currently the second most expensive 4gb 770 being $430 after mail in rebate.....cheapest being $369 after mail in rebate which is a Evga FTW which has the same cooler.

I am sure the Classified is nice and trust me at one point it had to be worth every nickel but i wouldn't pay $430 for it,i would much prefer a 290 at that price.

i am considering sending back a 780ftw i just bought to get one

If i was the Op i would be giving a strong consideration towards it too. So much talk in the forums right now about the newer games pushing vram and the 290 does have that one thing over the 780 for sure.

I agree. since the OP has not made any purchase yet he should go with the very best bang for the buck he could get and that includes amount of vram

My coworker just got that Sapphire card... running 1175/5380, Hynix memory. He got it from Tiger Direct on a Memorial Day promotion for $350 + tax (after $10 mail in rebate, $360 + tax out of pocket) and of course three games to choose. Damn hard to argue with that price..! He said it will go faster, he's gone to 1200MHz, but is waiting to get a better power supply before he pushes it more.

I did make my purchase

Skipsneaky2 - thats the one I went with, EVGA FTW 4GB GTX770 for $394 plus $25 rebate card and free Watch Dogs.

I looked at the 290, but nothing came close to the $400 mark when I was looking.

If your in the usa, this HIS 290 is $399 or $380 with mail in rebate on newegg and has 3 games. Not sure of the games but if you can switch the 770 i would consider it asap.

The 4gb 770 won't be terrible but for $20 more seriously consider the 290.

That is the 290.

Well cannot return for refund, so guess I am stuck with the GTX 770 4gb. Now I am currently running a Radeon 4850 (playing Titanfall, Watch Dogs) so if I see any improvement I think I'll be happy

Well if buying a 770 now its a bad idea because watch dogs is a glimpse of what's to come especially with open world games. The card is by no means slow as I love mine but when a 290 is $400, the competes with the 780 while under cutting it by more than $100 then the 770 is not a wise choice atm. Its funny how things have changed because it seemed it was just yesterday 2gb was fine for 1080p but today and on wards it makes no sense to buy a card with it if one wishes to turn up most game settings up. But then again it was yesterday the r9 series was price gouged to death. As for me if most of the games i wanted to play in the near future didn't have nvidia plastered all over it I would go back to amd because I still have my 7970 to fix.
