I7-950 vs xeon x5660

So I am looking to upgrade my I7-950. As it seems a new socket design is just around the corner. I am trying to hold on until it is released. I have a small overclock currently running at 3.1 Ghz. The X5650 base clock is 2.8 Ghz. I guess my question is the X5660 a better overclocker than the 950? Why the suggestion to move to the Xeon rather than just overclock the current 950?

The cheapest, easiest thing to do is to move to a Xeon. It's 32nm vs 45nm of the cpu you have. Yes, they overclock better and use less power. The Xeon has AES too so that's a plus.

I7-950 is a 45nm 130 watt quad core. Hex core Xeons up to X5675 are 32nm 95 watts. Less heat, more headroom..
