IBM Deskstar 75GXP class action

I had several, but no proof that I bought them. Couldnt' remember that old old newegg login : P

I had a 60GB Version of that drive RMAed it once got back a refurbished drive sold that one on eBay, I did file for the class action suit but I never received any thing. What was the problem with these drives any way that made them so prone to failure?

Glass platters are the main suspect but the lawsuit mentioned a design and manufacturing defect.

I am happy to report I got my check this past week. I was surprised to see it since that lawsuit was long forgotten. Although, I had two drives and submitted two forms so maybe I'll get some CD-Rs later (whooppeee).

Why?

I just got my 2 checks today. I also moved (but only once or twice) but fortunately they found my new address. The checks say "reissue" on them so they were probably sent to a prior address, which is why I got them 4 months after everyone else. I thought I'd NEVER see the money as I thought the class action lawyers kept it all.
