IBM T41 reinstall question

Hi all:

I have an IBM T41 (2379-DJU) that I purchased back in Dec 03. Recently the hard drive failed, thus taking my restore partition down with it.

I still have the Win XP Pro COA/product key, so would any OEM XP Pro cd allow me to reinstall my OS on an new drive using my current key.

I have a few saved images via (PQ, DriveImage). I would assume that I can restore an image to the new drive, but would the laptop be able recognize it?

It's good news that you have some saved images; those images (assuming they are complete System Drive (C images) will have all the drivers in them.

You'll need some way to boot the laptop so you can get the image on there; boot CD ROM or boot floppy image on a USB stick or similar.

You won't need a CD key to restore your image b/c the OS in the image is already activated/unlocked.

If the re-imaging does not work you can install OEM.

If it would not automatically Activate through the Internet, call Microsoft and ask for activation through the phone.
