I don't see a better deal on laptops out there right now. I bought one last Thursday night, got it Friday morning. The 13.3 screen is absolutely dynamite. Crystal clear. Better than my 17" trinitron by far. Comes w/ win98, but I'll probably wipe the drive and put 2k on. And I got 128mb of extra ram for $69. Pentium 3's only outperform this thing by around 10%, and when you consider that Speedstep drops performance down anyway, it's dead even. Overnight shipping was $30.

I only put this up cause I read the other post on the HP @ Walmart. The HP has a floppy and serial, but I can burn bootable cd's in my Plex and voila. Picked up a cheap ethernet card @ Compusa for it too. Only things I wish it had were a bigger hd and dvd. But I think the 13.3 screen is a nice tradeoff.

Hey DSLmon, this looks pretty decent deal I guess, compared to the Walmart deal originally posted a few days ago. I probably prefer getting a larger screen than have a DVD drive. But i'm still debating since it doesn't look like a floppy is included or even if I need a laptop? Good post i think tho.

uh, your 13.3 inch monitor on your laptop is not better than your trinitron. flat panel monitors better picture quality is not even close to trinitrons.

TFT displays are not necessarily better than Trinitron. TFT is not great for movies, and you get distortion from the light if you place the display at a bad angle.

Thanks for the post. This is a pretty good deal but I think I still like the Walmart deal over this at $150 less, $6 shipping, and a floppy, serial port and DVD included. It's pretty close but I'm a budget shopper. Not having a floppy is a big inconvenience for me and a DVD player on a laptop is very cool. The trade-off is a 12&quot; instead of 13&quot; screen, 50mhz and 1 gig in HD space less. I don't think I'll miss the 50mhz or the 1 gig in space. The bigger screen would be nice but I'll live with the HP for $749.

I've never seen a laptop display that I liked better than a really good traditional desktop monitor, even on the $3000-4000 laptops. Laptop displays are harder on my eyes.

Well, I have this thing for more screen area. I don't care to watch DVDs on my laptop, since they look better on the 52&quot; projection TV. Floppies I can burn to a CD just like the man said.

But hey, the important part is the deal!! Paying retail still sucks!

Hey, I have a 51&quot; HDTV myself but being able to watch a DVD on the road is so cool.

If you want or need to be able to conveniently transfer small documents and files between a desktop computer and the laptop like I need to do, a floppy is a must. I'm not going to burn a CD to do that. However, if the HP deal hadn't shown up I might have jumped on this.

namlook, you also forgot to mention that the HP has a SVGA tft and that the IBM has XGA tft.

you won't enjoy your dvd too much with SVGA resolution.

oops. I meant if you bought the two cards, you can connect the two computers and share files at lightning speed(compared to what you are doing).
