Anyone see the preview for this new series? I just saw it today, and i'm gonna try and watch it. Looks pretty cool.

Glad you posted this. I had seen the previews and wanted to watch it, but forgot. Darn, I just switched to the History Channel and it was going off, maybe they'll repeat it later.

Just watched it tonight. Pretty good stuff, although as waggy mentioned, it would be better in HD (then again, what wouldn't be?). They did all the filming in HD, yet there's no History Channel HD that I'm aware of on either Comcast or Directv. Unless I missed it on the Directv website that is.

EDIT: Looks like the HD version of History Channel will be rolling out on Directv in the fall. I suppose if Comcast doesn't offer it, that might be a reason to go back to satellite. Maybe..

Because if so, I read about this in a Car&Driver magazine, and it seemed damn cool.

saw the preview while at the theatre this afternoon... looked good and I just tuned in.

BTW, commercials at theatres are so g'damned annoying... movie started at 1:25 when it was slated for 1:10pm.

Given that after the short "season" is over, most of thier roads dissappear. It's not as much as if they plowed through the forests around the lakes. The entire road is only about 300 miles long.

I saw last nights episode... I found it interesting, but then I'm always glued to that kind of stuff.

I agree...it is very Deadliest Catch-esque... the two seem almost identical as far as format goes.

Saw the previews for it in a movie theatre of all places. Can't say I found it as intriguing as "Deadliest Catch".

Why is this on the History Channel? It doesn't sound very historical.

Are they at least covering the history of Alaska while the show is on?

Car and Driver did a story on this in the July issue. Called the The Frostbite Freeway. I'm guessing it's published on their website by now.

Well since no part of this road goes through Alaska, I see no reason for them to cover the history of AK
