ide location problem in winxp

i am running an ibm 40gb hard drive on my primary ide port and a
creative 12x dvd and a plextor 16x10x40 on my secondary ide port. the dvd drive is the slave. in my device manager, for location my hard drive is coming up as "location 0 [0]" and my dvd drive is coming up as "location 1 [1]", both of which are correct, i think. but my plextor is coming up the same as my hard drive: "location 0 [0]". whats the deal with this?

what kind of mainboard are you using?
are you running the most recent bios revision?

Hard Disk/Location 0 is the master disk, and Hard Disk/Location 1 is the slave.

im running on an asus p4b and i have the latest bios... i am just wondering why my plextor is showing up like it is on the primary ide channel (i owuld think it would say "location 0 [1]" or saomething like that).
