Ideas for side dishes

We're having a pot luck BBQ here at work tomorrow, and I'm trying to think of a side dish I can make. I'm a fairly good cook, but I don't have a grill. Does anyone have any suggestions for a dish that goes well with BBQ? I would like to make something fairly fancy (no corn or baked beans) as those bringing BBQ are incredible chefs... I don't want to be shown up TOO badly.

Mash potatoes, coleslaw, stuffed bell peppers...you shouldn't be hung up on bringing something fancy, because BBQ isn't a fancy food.

I didn't think there was any other way to make it.. Well, other then purple potatoes. Also, add horseradish to give it a little zing.

Sauteed Mushroom caps with Cream cheese spooned in then bacon over that and sprinkle Shredded Cheddar cheese over YUM!

FOR SHAME! We all take pride in our BBQ. I live in KC... we don't mess around. The guys I'm having this with smoke ribs on a weekly basis, and every single time they're trying to make them better. This is serious stuff to these guys.

I should also add that cole slaw and potato salad are out. I can't stand either one.

make potato salad. but use veganaise instead of mayo, plus thinly sliced shallots and celery. some fancy mustard, some garlic and maybe horseradish, sea salt, fresh ground pepper, top with a little smoked sweet paprika.
oh and serve it warm, not cold. yummm.

i don't know why, but veganaise is somehow far superior to mayonnaise.

If you have access to the grill during the event, you can grill fresh peach halves or pineapple. Mmmm.

i like zucchini slices, grilled with grated cheese on them and either italian or a greek-style salad dressing. very tasty

and all the traditional BBQ sides listed are awesome too.

last time I was in that conundrum I found a recipe for sweet potato salad. Similar to potato salad but with sweet potatoes, it went over extremely well.
