IE 6 problem

Some how a setting got changed in Internet Explorer 6 and whenever I try to open a link in a new window or I click on a link that should open in a new window, a new window opens but it is just blank. There is no page can't be displayed error or anything like that, it is just a blank window and it doesn't even try to load the new page. I'm using xp pro and the rest of my specs are in my sig. Thanks for any help...

beach2nd, since you didn't mention it, did you try:

TOOLS-INTERNET OPTIONS-DELETE FILES- "CHECK" ALL OFFLINE CONTENT- Then click "OK?"

Sometimes you might have a file or two in your cache that causes IE to act strange, hope this helps.

I got this same problem and I noticed after I did the "Cox Cable Modem" upgrade that they sent me in Arizona. It updates IE and it broke it. Do you have Cox Internet? I tried re-installing IE 6 with no luck. I just ended up formatting and re-installing XP. I'm glad I did it anyway cause for some reason my audio was messed up too.

Yes I did install the cox internet update. I guess I'll try reinstalling IE because I don't feel like reformatting. Damn cox :|

Re-installing IE will do nothing for your problem. I'm sure there's another way to fix this but I just felt like doing a clean installation anyway...

Just in case you were interested I found out how to fix this problem.

Go to Start/Run, and type:

REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL

Then open IE, Tools menu, Options, Program Tab, and click the "Reset Web
Settings" button.

Umm, here's a question for you. Does Cox Internet seem really slow now? I want to call and complain. I mean, they make you think you need to install this software...It totally messes up your system, and then when it's all said and done, the network is slower than it was when we used @home.

I am on with Cox Road Runner in Kansas. What exactly is this "Cable Modem Upgrade" you guys are referring to? Is this something I need to watch for them send me and make sure that it goes in the trash? Is required to keep your internet up?

It is definitely not required to keep the internet connection going. You might have to go to cox.net and change your e-mail address if you had an @home address before. We're talking about how we had to convert from cox@home to the new Cox Network...Whatever you do don't install the software.
