IE Homepage problem

P4 1.6Ghz
OS: XP Pro

Ok, I just upgraded my co-worker's laptop from Home to Pro and I was going to set her homepage to her sbcglobal.net log in page but everytime I restart, it keeps going back to this Home Search page. And whenever I type something in the address bar, even when I start it up with "www", for the first few times it searches for the address instead of going to it. I'm guessing spyware but I've pretty much cleaned this baby up. What could be causing this and how do I fix it?

Get Hijackthis. Run it. It will show you anything that is not Microsoft default. You can delete the offending registry keys directly with this program. It will also create a backup in case you delete something you didn't want to. I would link you direct to the authors site, but he is moving ISPs at the moment - he is down.

You need to read the "adware, spyware, hijack" sticky thread in the software-apps forum. It will let you know how to get rid of it.

By all means get a spyware/adware killer but to set her home page to whatever she wants, enter the URL manually in the address bar and navigate to the page. Once you are there click on the Tools section of the IE menu bar and then Internet Options; it will open to the General tab and all you need to do is click on the Use Current box, then Apply, then OK and she should be all set with the home page of her choice.
