Hi to all, If i were to overclock the Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2200 2.2GHz 1M Cache S775 800MH to say 3.0hz what would i need using the ga - ep45 ds3 i have thought of using OCZ 2x1GB 240DIMM PC2-8500 Reaper 1066 memory but when overclocking would the fsb rise from 800? and does this effect the memory i use? its a little confusing as the cpu fsb is 800mhz and the memory is 1066mhz. please help! i dont want to buy the wrong type of memory ty.

As Christobevii3 has pointed out, by using dividers it can limit your memory speed. But with an 800 FSB cpu, and 1066Mhz ram, you have more headroom with your memory. You would probably hit a FSB wall before you would hit the max memory speed. So, you have plenty of room with your cpu. After you get a stable OC, then you can set your dividers to adjust memory to clock at higher speeds. Your E2200 will clock around 3.4 - 3.6 and to give you an idea what I am talking about, here is an example:

12 ( cpu multi ) x 300 ( FSB ) = 3600Mhz
ram @ 1:1 Ratio, 2 x 300 = 600 Mhz <-------lowest Ratio setting.

So, you see by using different dividers, Higher than 1:1, you can have your ram adjusted to different speeds.

With a high multiplier like the E2200's you don't need DDR2-1066. DDR2-800 is plenty, and DDR2-667 would probably be fine. (But you may as well get 800 since it's generally just about as cheap.)

You know your right. my lil ol e2160 got to 3.2 and that was just about all she wrote. So, I stand corrected. But I hope he has the Idea.

Wouldn't that be a question to ask before you buy the RAM?

If you're running the RAM within the manufacturer's specs and with whatever voltage OCZ recommends you shouldn't encounter any errors.

+1. If you are underclocking the memory as you would be in your case then you are within the manufacturer's specs and will be fine. (considering your sticks are good. memtest if errors show up)
