I have $500 and have the choice for my new build, I can get two Dell S2409Ws or I can get one Dell U2410. To pair with a ATI 5870.

Thanks,

i'm not into multimonitor, but i think two monitors is worse than one. you should either have one good monitor or three good monitors. with two monitors, there will be 1+ inches of bezel right down the middle of your field of view.

Yes, I forgot about that. Op would have to buy a $100 adapter to get eyefinity working.

I dont get it. The cards have two DVI, one HDMI, and one DisplayPort. Why can't you just use both DVI and the HDMI? How annoying.

One of the DVI ports and the HDMI are shared. You can use one or the other, but not both.

I'm not sure why this is, but that's the way it is.

Aren't those TN panels? The viewing angles on TN panels are bad enough with a single screen, I can't imagine how crappy a three screen setup would be.

Notice that all the Eyefinity setups reviewed and shown off all use either IPS or PVA panels.

Personally, I'd buy the best LCD I could buy for $500 and not try to buy more then one. Quality over quantity IMO.

The viewing angles are fine because you have to be centered between the three to get the proper effect, and the two on each side are slanted towards you. In other words, if someone can accept use of a TN panel this factor shouldn't be any worse with 3 positioned properly though it does take up a bit of desk space.

Sure, reviewers like to use nice gear to demo or showcase tech, but that doesn't make a consumer's budget any higher.

Maybe. Depends a lot on the purpose. What I feel detracts from it more than anything is today's widescreen resolutions, it would seem a better effect if it were 3 x 4:3 ratio monitors sideways rather than 16:9, though at least sideways 9:16 is a lot better than regular 3 x 16:9.

I can't stand the poor viewing angle of the TN LCD, the color reproduction is also bad but it's getting considerably better. Me having to stand still like a statue in front of a TN panel to have good viewing angles is simply not a good idea.

When I'm using my PC, I'm usually sitting in front of it, about 2 feet away. So, the viewing angle never comes into play for me. If I were using it as a TV, I could undertsand the viewing angle, but for normal PC use, it really does not come into play.

Personally I can't stand eyefinity and the gaps between dual monitors or triple. If I wanted that much, I would just get a 37" or higher HDTV
