And have a lot of money, you can make even more!!! People figured out how to game the lottery. If only I knew about this sooner...

Remember, if you cheat or bend the rules, you are "working hard" to get richer.

No illegal activity here. And, if they don't let this continue, they are opposed to capitalism and the American way!!

Nice work. There's definitely some risk involved, but it sounds like the payoffs are well worth it during the rolldown weeks.

Way to take this post and make it ridiculously political. The cheating and bending of rules isn't making the game unfair. If anything it is more convenient for the big bettors, as they don't have to come in during store hours to get their tickets printed, etc.

I don't understand how that is "cheating." They didn't get their lottery earnings unfairly, they worked the odds.

Though I wonder, now that the secret is out will it require an even larger investment to beat the odds? If a significantly larger amount of people invest 400k this month into the game, will the odds that each one of them faces be worse than in the past when only a few people knew about/were doing this?

remember there still was a chance for the gambler to lose completely, even though that chance may approach 0.

Would you mind telling us exactly what they did that is considered bending rules or cheating?

They aren't.

So, this should be allowed to continue.

The state is preventing people from honestly "working hard" to earn some money!!

They were smarter than me and made money! Waaaaaa! It's not fair!

Exactly! Except the "Waaaaa! It's not fair!" part.

It's more than fair. Just like cooking up equations and calculations for investment products no one (not even the financial advisor) could explain and selling it as a legit venture. If you are dumb enough to give money to something no one could properly explain to you, then you deserve to lose it.

And, if you are "hard working" enough to come up with fluff and crap, you deserve to be rewarded. See, deception and lies are being rewarded as something good.

Eitherway, if you don't understand it, don't put your money on it.

And, there is no such thing as exploits. Like this lottery. This should continue - for ever.

LOL!!!

If you aren't trying to bend the rules a bit, then you aren't trying hard enough. These days "playing fair" gets you jack shit. If you wanna gamble in a casino and have a better chance of winning at BJ, you need to count cards or get extremely lucky. It's not cheating tho to count, just frowned on by the casino.

It all depends on your lifestyle's appetite. And, my lifestyle's appetite matches what I earn.

When a wife and some kids come along, it is no longer about my appetite, but a duty and obligation to ensure my family is taken care of.

As far as I am concerned, playing fair = working hard. That is what this country is lacking; understanding what Americans really need and want from life.

If you see a scumbag and want what that scumbag has, you are not "working hard" you are learning what he/she has learned to gain their wealthy and replicating it or redesigning it. Do you really need/want a mansion? Do you really need/want drugs? Do you really need/want fast women? This is all on the menu for the appetite of a diseased mind.

A mind lacking morals, basic structure and understanding of what life is about. Life is all about what you want it to be, but, when you lie/cheat/steal - that is not good nor correct nor "working hard". It is wrong.

And, you can go right ahead and live that type of life - but, don't pass that shit under my nose and tell me it's wholesome, good and right.

Yea problem is you need 500k to do it and if someone does with the jackpot you lose bigtime.

And now that these stories have got out more will play and the chances of the jackport being hit is greater.

Best to save your 500k to later this year or early next year when it dies down again.

I don't get your point. So I agree with what you say by living within your means. Okay yeah everybody should do this. In your 3rd paragraph you seem to allude to the fact that wealthy people are scum..or something..? And then throw in wanting drugs and whores? I don't know sorry I didn't quite understand the logic flow.

This wasn't a matter of bending the rules or cheating, it was exploiting a loophole-perfectly legal and, to most people, ethical (your personal viewpoint may vary).

Anyway it is now moot as the MA gambling authorities have taken action to close this loophole by restricting the maximum number of tickets any store can sell for this game per day.

Where did you see that? The only limits I saw were to the stores that were breaking the rules. Others can still sell as many as they like.

The majority of the rich and wealthy do not exactly lead moral lives.

Be it they were poor/middle class dirt bags who struck it rich (by ripping people off) or were raised in a family/social environment where things like this are common, but not necessarily publicized.

^ you have to be fucking kidding me. So you are blanketing that all rich people are indeen scum and ripped people off. In case you skipped the part where the people who took advantage of this so called "loop hole" were scientists, investors and the like. So let me guess, these people happened to be poor, but then bribed the admissions people at MIT, then somehow suceeded there and continued to bribe people and rip others off all the way to the top, huh? Oh and they managed to just steal enough women's purses along the way to make the needed money to buy all the lotto tickets, too, right??

No. They were lacking morals from the very beginning.

Just because someone is a scientist, that doesn't mean that are good. Same way with a cop, priest, etc.

And, investors,... really. You want me to believe that an investor isn't looking to cheat somehow? What, did these investors think they were contributing to their fucking 401k? Or, their kid's 429??

LOL!!!!! Holy crap, that was a good one!

And, it's not all rich people - it's most, I did say most. Not sure where you are getting all from. Most rich people get there by scamming, cheating and ripping people off. AKA; "hard work".

Which again - this "hard work" is praised and supported by most forum members.

Okay, so let me see here. You would then again that counting cards in blackjack, which is indeed a "loop hole" of the game. Taking advantage of a statisical anomally, much like this lotto game, in your mind is then immoral. I call that having enough brains to work the system which was not created by you. Now something like tax cheating and evasion is yes, immoral and wrong, which I would not do, nor condone. However, this does not even remotely mean that MOST ( >50&#37 of rich ( what is rich to you anyways? More than 100k..500k.. 1M?) are scum, liars, cheaters, etc. That's like if I said all poor people are dirty, lying, stealing crack heads who would do anything to go get a 6 pack from their local 7-11.

Oh - but these boards DO say things like that.

Rich to me is net worth @ $5mm plus. And, they do indeed cheat and steal ALL THE TIME. Or, they hire someone to ensure they are cheating and stealing all the time.

Grab a job at a wealth management firm. Soak up a years worth of experience - come back a changed person.

The best are wealth management firms that aren't public. These cats are ruthless,... even with their own clients!!

Not much different than teams setup to play banks of progressive video poker.

Final payoff is nice; but the smaller payouts keep one going if you have the bankroll until the larger payouts show up

This story was probably made up to get more people into stores and gamble their lives away.
