A friend ordered a burger on Ubereats from a place called The Burger Den, neither of us had heard of it, but he thought the burgers looked really good in the pics. The burger he ordered sounded strangely familiar topping wise to somewhere, but I couldn't place it. An hour later Ubereats shows up, only for him to find out he paid $25 to have a burger from Denny's delivered. I guess Denny's = Den kind of makes sense. But man it's sure sneaky of them. Nowhere on Ubereats app does it make any mention of the fact the restaurant is Denny's and The Burger Den doesn't even exist. His excitement turned to sorrow pretty damn quick. I went on Ubereats to look around, and at least in my area I ended up spotting 2 other places that are pretending to be something they're not. And there's really no way to know just by what you see on there.

Denny's makes a decent burger, not a $25 burger to be sure, but a decent burger. Denny's also makes a good chocolate shake.

I would agree that Denny's burgers have come a long way from how they use to be for sure. But if he wanted Denny's he would have order Denny's. Which ironically's also an option on Ubereats. The Burger Den of course, just lists their burgers.

We used UberEats once....ONCE. Never again. We ordered 5 Guys and after about 45mins we were wondering where our food was. Noticed it had been picked up 15mins earlier and he was pretty far away (10-15mins). Watched the map and his car didn't move for 45 mins and was sitting at a house. Called Uber and they said they would call the driver. Uber kept updating the delivery time as time passed. So it was finally delivered over 2hrs after ordering and an hour and half after it had been picked up. All while this guy drove to some house and sat for 45 mins on the other side of our town. He left it at the door and bolted. Couldn't talk to him. It was completely cold and we didn't even touch it. Straight to the trash can.

Called Uber and they said it was delivered on time and wouldn't refund. I told them when I placed the order, but they said the delivery time was correct. I pointed out it had moved probably 10 times over the hours. They stuck to their guns. Then they wanted me to take pictures of the food!!! I pulled it out of the trash and sent it. They wouldn't budge, even when I told them I would be posting my experience on social media and filing complaints. I finally told them to go F themselves and I'd just do a chargeback on my credit card.

Worst customer experience ever and I won't use them ever again.

We have an incredibly good local food delivery service and maybe once or twice well use Doordash if a restaurant we want isn't on the local places list, but their list has grown leaps and bounds in the last two years. Been a godsend during the pandemic.

Where did this happen exactly? If I was going to buy a $25 burger I would probably research the restaurant and read the reviews before making the purchase. I would then go to the restaurant website and see if I could order directly through them.

I have been seeing Facebook posts about “Impossibly Good” chicken wings and all the comments are “why don’t you just say it is TGI Friday’s”
I forgot what name they were using. Strange because I am sort of far for a Friday’s delivery but maybe it is because how the roads run and I am within the ad radius.
Thanks for the heads up OP

Not a huge fan of UberEats but I get a $15/mo credit and Uber itself apparently isn't a think in SE MI anymore so I'll order something in the app but select pickup instead

Drivethrough and delivery are too stressful. Something's always gonna be fucked up. I'd rather drive, and walk my ass in in-person so I can correct mistakes when they happen.
Plus the lobby is often less busy than the drive through. The problem with that around here is that lobby hours have been crazy inconsistent due to staffing issues so who knows if it'll actually be open at any given time. I stacked coupons several times for cheap meals when ordering ahead but I stopped because if the lobby was closed I'd have to sit in a long line and idling my car for an hour to get fast food isn't something I'm remotely interested in (and continue to be shocked at how many people are)

drive though only worth it at raising canes and chik fila around here. They actually have hustle.

I've been noticing more "ghost kitchen" restaurants on ubereats and doordash lately. Went to order some italian over the weekend and there was a new one "Maggiano's Italian Classics". Maggiano's is a chain that's pretty well known and has a good menu, but this doordash restaurant didn't carry any of the same things and only had about 20 menu items. As far as I could tell, this was no physical location, just some offshoot digital kitchen. Maybe eventually I'd be OK with ordering from a place like that, but I much prefer being able to order from a known physical space with many reviews.

I got the Uber credit card and used it extensively before they ruined it (it was 5% back on just about everything I use a credit card for then they lowered the rewards and put it onto categories that I don't buy). Then the pandemic hit and I thought that I'd cash out my rewards and used it all up on UberEats. I ordered probably 8 meals. Not one single order was correct. Most of the problems were with the UberEats driver not picking up all the bags of food. But once I just got the entire wrong meal--I assume I got someone else's food. And never were they even remotely on time. For me, the UberEats customer service was acceptable. They always replaced the food if the restaurant was still open. But sometimes the driver was 1 to 2 hours late and the restaurant was no longer even open for UberEats to replace the foods.

I'll never actually use real money on UberEats. I just can't fathom paying way more money to have the incorrect food delivered, cold, and way later than I expected. I just call the restaurant, and drive there to pick up the food myself. Costs far less money to pick it up myself, I can be sure to check the order, and while the restaurant can be late on making the food, at least it is hot when I get it.

Yeah, dont order from Pasqually's Pizza & Wings either. The driver will actually be swinging by Chuck E. Cheeses to pick up your order.

The only time I did anything like this was last year after I was exhausted from moving in and ordered some Popeye's for delivery (via the Popeye's app). After 45 minutes I just went and picked up the order myself, it was cold, of course. Complained to Popeye's, got a full refund. I'd overwhelmingly rather just cook something from the freezer than order food for delivery, but having just moved in, there was nothing in the freezer yet.

Of the $25 he paid, how much was the actual burger, and how much was other charges/tip? Just curious.

I feel like I'm the only person who never has problems with drive through or delivery, I can't even remember a time when my drive through order was wrong. When I order through grubhub it usually arrives faster than they say it will and haven't really had any problems with incorrect items either.

A lot of Chains setup fake accounts like this. I too ordered a burger that also turned out to be Denny's when I thought it was somewhere else. The burger was good and they sent me a Bottle Opener Keychain attachment. So I got over it, even ordered Denny's a couple times afterward.

I use Skip the Dishes mainly, but have used Doordash a few times. Had a couple less than ideal outcomes, but 99% of the time the order shows up on time and with all the expected items.

Well I'll be, I found another local one the real place is called Burger IM's, and is actually pretty good for a fast-food burger place. At least from what I remember the few times I went there.

On Uber it's renamed Murder-A-Burger and all the burger names are court/criminal related shit.

"pay my bond burger" "Refuse To Testify Turkey Burger"

Calling a place Murder-A-Burger seems like a really poorly thought out idea.

I've heard people say "I could murder a pizza/burger" kind of thing before.
