I think so. Seems like the only reasonable explanation... unless they are just slowly going through and re-playing the games one by one.

I remember bringing home my Dreamcast a week or two after it launched, and playing the original NFL 2K for about a week straight with my friends. Then we switched to Soul Calibur battles for the next week straight.

And I think I may be the only person in a 200 mile radius that actually had the Samba De Amigo maracca controllers.

Virtua Tennis was FAR more fun than any tennis game has a right to be. Especially with four drunk people.
And the countless hours I spent perfecting my skills on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2... it took me a couple weeks, but I got so that I could drain the fountain in Philly within three tries.

...were all played daily for years by my friends and me. It was a simpler time.

what i loved most about the dreamcast was the first party games and how user-friendly they were. clean interfaces, uncomplicated controls and catchy graphics and sound, like they were designed for an arcade (and many of them were ports). you didn't have to learn a million options or moves to get good at it, just basic timing and reflexes for the most part.

I think I might just dig out my Dreamcast again.

You should never have buried it, traitor!

/has his DC hooked up to his HDTV through VGA

Hey, I love my Dreamcast! It's just in my closet along with about 75% of the stuff I own right now. And BTW, I have a VGA box too.

OOOH, sell me your VGA box since you aren't using it. My TV has two VGA inputs and is begging to have the DC hooked up to it.

10 New Games for the Dreamcast?
GOAT Store Publishing to announce 2006 / 2007 projects

After Dan Loosen finished his speech entitled "Welcome to the Show" he will have only a few hours on Saturday before stepping back up to the podium... this time, as the head of GOAT Store Publishing ready to make the biggest Dreamcast announcement in years as he reveals the plans that the GOAT Store have for upcoming projects in 2006 / 2007.

GOAT Store Publishing has kept very secret about upcoming Dreamcast projects other than the GOAT Games compilation which has so far had mimimal information released about it. That will all change at 4:00 on Saturday when Dan reveals details on 10 upcoming Dreamcast projects that GOAT Store Publishing expects to release over the next year and a half.

Many of the upcoming games that will be revealed are games which have never been seen or discussed before, and during the speech there will be exclusive gameplay footage of some of the games. A few games will be playable in the DreamCon section of the show immediately following the speech. The games will cover all different sorts of genres and gameplay styles.

"I think people will be very surprised when they see some of what we have in store to reveal," stated Dan Loosen. "Developers are really grasping how the system hardware works, and there is a lot of exciting games in development that we are excited to announce!"

The GOAT Store, LLC will also be releasing signed copies of two of their most recent Dreamcast releases -- Inhabitants and Maqiupai -- at the show. The signed copies are hand numbered and limited to only 100 copies, and have never been put on public sale before the show.

The Upcoming announcment is shaping up to be D3 (Dreamcast Demo Demonstration)

1) Lack of third party support (EA)
2) PS2 Hype
3) Sega was in bad financial shape...they pretty much couldn't even afford to advertise after launch

Completely agree...

I've always said the lack of EA support (a company which I personally do not care for) had a LOT to do with the Dreamcast's downfall. There were so many good games however for the system. The VMU was crappy (eats batteries) and the controllers reminded me of the Jaguar controllers. I remember using CHAP to get out to my Server 2000 box to get internet access off my broadband

However games like Shenmu, Soul Caliber (omg), Virtua Tennis, the whole 2K sports lineup, Dead or Alive, Powerstone, Tony Hawk, etc. were so damn good. It took WAY too long for good RPGs to come out also IIRC.

Sega spent a grip (what was it, like $500 million?) on advertising when the DC came out. I remember it's the only console I ever preordered. Somehow they just fell off.

I wish I kept my DC instead of my PS/2. Heck with this thread reminding me... maybe I'll go look for one.
