Alright, I caved in and started an account, even though I know it can lead to no good. Once I get started on these kinds of things I always seem to get sucked in. Anyhow, am I still supposed to go to dailysum to register and join the AT alliance? Double Trouble, reporting for duty!
We're kind of switching over to TribalWars right now. (There's a thread here about that, too.)
World 20.
It's a much more refined game, and operates on a much grander scale than Ikariam. Plus, they can issue version updates without the whole game going to hell. TW just put out a version update, and the only way I knew it was because there was a message about it on the forums. And, Ikariam is in the early alpha stages. Many major features aren't yet implemented, and if you sustain major losses because of bugs, the Game Operators can't/won't help you, besides saying, "Gee, that sucks."
In Ikariam, each new version introduces at least as many new bugs as it "fixes." The move to v0.2.6.1 supposedly fixed 3 bugs, but there are lots of new ones, way more than 3.
In TribalWars, you can literally demolish enemy structures. In Ikariam, no go. You can only destroy an enemy's military units. Getting them to demolish structures would have to be done voluntarily - "Destroy your Shipyards or I'll keep attacking you." All they have to do then is wait until you get bored with attacking.
TribalWars - an enemy can destroy your city, or even completely take it from you.
My main complaint about TW: It's not nearly as complex as Ikariam. There's no gold, there are no naval battles, and fights are much more by-the-numbers.
