I went with TigerDirect because of the Mobo, but how does this look? Also, does the mobo have integrated video?

Not good, the case and PSU are trash. Like I said previously the only case and PSU combos worth anything are Antec and InWin (Forton-Source).

According to this review, In Win doesn't use Fortron Source PSUs anymore, and their own PSUs are not as good as Fortron Source.

Looks like you're right. If you read the review they still sound decent, though no FSP.

After shipping and taxes, the total is about $530. That's even without the RAM, heh. I re-thought my budget, and I've only got $400.

Not sure on the price but how does that sort of setup look to you? The motherboard has on-board video and rather good on-board sound (HD Azalia same as Asus MVP)

Anyone want to work out what that comes to?


{edit} get the Aspire case I reckon - if you're gettin any Micro ATX case I reckon its the way forward. If you want to overclock etc if you could duct the CPU air to the rear fan you'd be sorted... not sure what'd be the best way but I'm sure it could be done. However, for what you'll be using it for I doubt you'll need an overclocked processor...

Ah, well, according to most of the replies, only the Antec and inWin cases come with good PSU's, so the Aspire is probably out of the question. I don't need any ram or extra hard drives, just case, mobo, processor.

So, I'm still waiting for everyone to be able to agree or mostly agree on the same thing.

Not good. That motherboard does not allow overclocking.

For $400, you're not going to get much. Either you'll have a very slow system, or you'll have to take a chance on a cheap case/PSU combo. I recommend the latter.

This makes no sense to me. The Motherboard combo I mentioned is only 200 dollars.
Did you misread my post? It comes with the CPU. It's socket 939 and comes with a retail Athlon 64. Your combo is 208 and a sempron is no match for the A64 3000+.

If you already have memory that is PC3200, just use it.

Very quick chime in here.
First you will never get everyone to agree on anything.
Second listen to everyone, but try to see where they are coming from before making up your own mind.

IMO a cheap case and cheap PSU is fine. I know I will get hell from this community for say this. But look at who is tell you to get what. Most of these guys have $500 video card and $200 motherboards and $500 CPUs. Of course they want to get a good PSU.
And they damn well need it too. You don't. If you gonig to with on board video you are fine. unless you going to get a video card that needs extra power any PSU will work fine.

I have built 200 computer easy. I have had problems with 4 PSU. 2 other cost over $80. 1 was in cheap system and 1 a shuttle PSU. Most of system I build are low cost systems. From what I have seen even the Cheap PSU work fine.

For your build I would worry about your ram more than anything else. On board video needs decent ram. Also it takes away from you system ram. 512 is cutting it close. But you can alway get mroe ram later. And in the end you system will be more then fast enough no matter what you chioce. I don't see a good reason to over clock it at all.
you don't seem to be huge gamer, so I don't see where you CPU will limit you even if you don't over clock.
