I would think that while her saying she wanted someone to envy her was probably a form of sarcasm and meant as a light hearted joke if nothing else. Rollo, what it seems you have done is taken offense to something rather silly and decided to turn on some kind of defense mechanism in return by stating the following facts:
Sorry chief. A free 9700 Pro just won't make me envy you.
1. I have a 9800Pro, so I don't envy 9700Pros
2. I have $250 to blow, so I don't envy you getting something that I could just buy without thinking twice about.
3. Most of all, if you envy other people for their possessions, you always lose, because someone else always has better stuff than you do. (no matter who you are)
1. Personally, I am glad that you have a 9800 Pro, I have one also and love it, but what does that matter in the context of the original post? I know that a 9800 Pro is better than a 9700 Pro, but she was making a light hearted comment, not commanding that she had the most superior card in the world.
2. It is also great that you have the available funds to afford a $250 dollar video card at any time, but I hardly see the relevance of your financial situation to the original post. This is pure gloating, plain and simple, pointless and if nothing else rude...not everyone else has the ability to do this, why do you feel the need to make them feel inadequate?
3. This is true, but why are you going to envy someone else's possessions anyway? With your logic, there should be no envy, which is great, but where did the poster even begin to say that her stuff was better than everyone else's? She did not...
Rollo, I hope you have enjoyed making your self look like a rude jerk, because you certainly did a fine job of it.
Gozu, enjoy the card and best of luck to you with the 9700 Pro...awesome card...and even better when it's free!
