Well, here's the situation right now, my computer runs fine for the most part, no real problems with any programs or applications. Everything seems to be running fine, although every once in a while when running Internet Explorer an error will occur and all the windows I had running then become closed. This problem is more recent. My roommate says he thinks it could be the motherboard, but he's not sure and neither am I. I am leaning towards this explanation however, since I had problems with the motherboard about a year ago. They were right after he overclocked my PIII 500mhz, it went to 550. It worked fine for a few days then I had problems booting up. Sometimes the keyboard was not recognized at all, despite being securely plugged in, and other times there was no boot-up at all. I took the computer back to the store where they bought it and they said it was broken, but later they were able to repair it at no cost. I have since left it un-overclocked and it ran fine for the most part except for the occaisional keyboard problem, until the IE problem. Netscape would not run at all, but that may be seperate. I need some of your expert advice on the following:
My options (you may have more) I think are:
1) Take it back to be looked at again and leave things as is afterwards
2) Buy a new/used motherboard that will fit my system
3) Spend a little money and move up to a dual processor
My system specs are:
PIII 500mhz
2 sticks of 128MB PC100 (I think) RAM
Voodoo Banshee Video Card
Thanks for any advice you can give
Also: I want to be able to overclock it if at all possible
