So you are a TKD champ?
I have some training in an unofficial MA, i basically just hit the gym five days a week and walk a lot these days though.
TDK is my hobby.
Good allround training, i would join up but between work, kids, gym and sleep i have little time.
What you could do is find someone to teach you and your kids, together. I saw families coming together all the time -then again, they usually switched schools over to the local family school instead of mine. I went to a school that focused on getting students to black belt and beyond, not just a family-fun center. Friday nights were full contact night. Wednesday was no-contact point sparring night. Screw Wednesday nights, I was there every Friday night. There's nothing like being in the ring 300+ times per year. It's a great workout, and it's fun to see some of the stuff that my 5th dan teacher would do when we could convince him to show off
Actually, since my kids are living with me this is a great idea, might make me more at ease with letting my teenage daughter out of the house too.
I am going to look into this, thank you for the advice Nik.
It's actually a great family activity to be in. I've seen lots of family go in there. However, hopefully your kids are a bit older then 5-8 years old. I'm in TKD myself and I found that kids between the age of 4-8 or so are kinda hard to teach. They lack the discipline. Not all kids are like that, but I found several of them are.
my kids are teens except for my toddler but he is too young.
They are very well aware of what to do and what not to do and i think it is better to do that than to take them down to the gym, hard gym training is not a good thing for a growing body.
Working with weights is a BAD thing for a growing body.
Yeah, that is what i know too, better to use your body, there is actually a local TKD dojo not 100m from where i live, i am going to check it out, my kids are going to love this.
And i could use the excersise, i am thinking of not bulking up during this winter, keeping the fat level pretty constant and just try to train and build on that, then i won't have to loose as much when the summer comes.
This could be a lot of fun, and since my sis owes me favors for taking care of her kids when she is training i have someone to babysit already.
Yup, we are going to try this, if it works out i am going to tell my kids who to thank, so you can expect a thank you note from them.
