They can win without Obama. I don't want to stereotype black voters here but the numbers don't lie. With or without Obama the Ds will scoop up 90% of the black vote.
And it is not a racist thing to say that many, many Americans are not ready to vote for a black man as President.

Actually Colin Powell was thought to be a virtual shoe-in for President, extemely high numbers on the right.

Of course, anytime a black person does not conform to what many leftists (including perhaps many here) consider the "correct type" of black individual, he will be derided as "not a real" black man.. or some such idiotic garbage... irritates the hell outta me.

Bush may be bad, but folks of the left are often total bubbleheads... cannot stand them myself. I suppose if I were more surrounded by bible belt folks I'd be similarly annoyed... probably.

What?!?! Of course she's running. She may not win the nomination, but she's definitely running.

Oh, I hope she runs and wins the Democrat ticket, it would be like an early birthday or you know something like that.

which makes her perfect for the job, the only candidate discussed so far in this thread who has what it takes to win

Right now both sides have my spite on this issue.

That doesn't make any sense. The type of people that are unemployed are not looking for the type of jobs illegals work, they wouldn't take those jobs anyway....

You mean like President Bush agreeing to support a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage to gain the support of the religious right? So politics is about deals and compromise... who knew?

Also, please give an exmaple of HIllart Clinton taking "any position to gain support".

What does that even mean, "big government attitude"? You sound like a caricature from the Simpsons spouting meaningless catchphrases. How could government possibly get ANY bigger after Bush, who wiretaps your citizens with impunity, spends with impunity, invades other countries with impunity.

What does that make you, a "Rightist"?
OK, I'll bite. Provide some examples of what you're talking about when you say, "Of course, anytime a black person does not conform to what many leftists (including perhaps many here) consider the "correct type" of black individual, he will be derided as "not a real" black man.. or some such idiotic garbage... irritates the hell outta me. I'd be interested.

because I don't live there, therefore I am incapable of reading and interpreting polls and surveys? there are more women than men in your population, that's just a demographic fact

So she wouldn't need a significant percentage of men to vote for her to win?

I live in the US and I would say that you may not be right. Hillary's "approval" rating for a possible run at the presidency falls within the margin of error right at the 50% mark. In polls shown here, the only Repub candidate that handily beats any Dem is the only one that the party won't run.....McCain.

Hillary is neck and neck with Rudy and beats Condi according to this site.

Red Dawn hit the nail on the head. Don't let your love for Hillary shade reality.

I am a left leaning moderate with hundreds of friends and associates that are like-minded.
I can tell you that there is a perception among the general population that Hillary is a user, someone who is an egomaniac and who epitomizes everything that is wrong in politics. (I do not believe this or believe it to be correct).

I do not believe that Hillary could expect even a split among moderates, but republicans will turn out in record numbers to defeat her.

The Democratic Party needs a moderate governor, (read no national political baggage that Rove & company can exploit) to get the country back on course.

sometimes bill is just horribly wrong. i think he's against vaccines or something insane. and nader? good god. going for only the fringe left isn't going to win you anything. the center does matter, and nader/hilary is dead to the center. yes i know hilary isn't nader at all, but its her image i guess. fringe lefties like nader are soft on national security, and that destroys their appeal with the center. not to mention...he and people like him kept saying both parties are the same and that voting was essentially pointless. well thats a great way to keep voters away completely from voting, making them feel bitter, powerless, and apathetic. justifying laziness blah blah. nader is defeatism, nader is the problem. nader stabbed us in the back. he is a traitor. he is a republicans best friend.

Hillary wouldn't win. Despite what the polls say. I think the factor would be because of the war. Even though most Americans want out of the war, they want a leader who can show the strength to do it successfully so it doesn't look like they're tucking tails and running.

Not entirely true, in the Marist poll yes Hillary is a percentage point below Giuliani, but if you take a look at the Fox poll Rudy commands a double digit lead. It is also telling that 51% of those polled in the CNN poll would definitely not vote for her. At this point, it will be either McCain, Giuliani, or Allen to get the GOP ticket in my opinion unless someone comes out of the shadows. According to the latest CPAC poll Allen has a slight lead of 2%, but his numbers have jumped quite a bit since the last poll. Allen is certianly my first choice at this point with McCain a close second. Personally, I hope Hillary wins the Democrat ticket.
