First Impressions:
Well Apple of course is the king of presentation. The iPod comes in a beautiful bag specifically for the nano. When the guy at the store whipped out the bag I was impressed. If it were any other manufactuer they would stop at the bag. The beautiful box of course continues to impress me. Openning the box is like walking into a new house in that you don't really know what to expect but it just looks beautiful. Of course the infamous "Please do not steal music" is on the candy like wrapper around the iPod.

The touchpad is perfect. You would think it is too small to do any good but it feels very intuitive just like an iPod should. The buttons and controls take all of 2 mintues to get used to and just feels as natural as a keyboard.

The color screen is beautiful. The colors are crisp and quite bright. I haven't tried it in sunlight yet but I suspect it will look fine.

Mine of course is in BLACK . Apparently this store got a few hundred and there are still a couple hundred people on the waitting list who could not be called. 4GB Black appaers to be the most popular so far. He told me they had tons of 2GB White/Blacks that you could just walk in a buy off the shelf.

yep

its not really a total POS, but its not the best at playing music, but the majority of ipods are bought by the fashion concious who wont even look at another MP3 because its not apple and therefore not stylish

same with the mini cooper, i know one guy who bought one for the driving pleasure. most other people buy it not because its good, not becuase its BMWs first attempt at FWD and eliminated torque steer at the same time. they buy it becuase its trendy.

I went to the apple store this morning (on the way to work) and I played around with their 2GB black display and it is surprisinginly stout for being so small. Of course I'm sure the metal backing has a lot to do with it.

And for those of you who say it's trendy so what? I made good money it's nice to have the best possible MP3 player sometimes. This will actually be the first iPod I will ever own. I've of course seen the displays for all the previous ones and liked them. However, at the time I didn't see it being worth $300 or whatever price it was. Now this... As soon as I saw it I had to get one and I went to the Apple store that night and reserved me one.

The iPod nano uses flash memory. I hate hard drive players and the nano is the biggest/best flash player on the market right now.

I just picked up mine a few minutes ago, installing iTunes right now.
I was waiting for a flash based player with a color screen for a long time, it was either this or the iRiver U10 coming out soon.

I picked up a 4GB white one, and hooray for corporate discount!
