You don't REALLY need iTunes to load your MP3's to an iPod. You can mount it as an external hard drive and copy over files that way.
Linux users also have a program called GTKPod as a substitute for iTunes.
ephpod ipodagent..3rd party software is pretty plentiful.
and larger then 4gb? lol u know anything about flash mem prices? apples already using a bulk discount that other player makers can't touch.
Duh, I'm aware Apple got a hot deal from Samsung for the nano's memory.
Whether or not flash technology has advanced to the point that it is reasonable to stuff more than 4 GB into a digital music player, the fact remains that I need more than 4 GB.
Now I'm not adamant about my mp3 player using flash... HD based ones will do... but of course flash is preferable because it is solid state.
I was only referring to the nano because that is the topic of the thread. I'm aware that other options exist in the 20 to 60 GB range. Even if they do eventually crank the nano up to 20 GB I still might not buy one just because it doesn't run on rechargeables I can go out and buy and install myself.
As far as iTunes not being required for music transfer... I'm happy to hear that it's not.
