IMPORTANT tbird question

i got the tbird 1.2ghz retail 1200-266 and the iwill kk266-r like many of you suggested.
i got a question, when i load up the pc it says AMD 900mhz chip, why is that

i havent gone into bios everything is still on default
let me know if and what there is to do to run it at 1.2ghz.

Your FSB is at 100 MHz instead of 133 MHz. There should be a place to change this either physically on the board with jumpers or dipswitches or in the BIOS. Check your manual.

I agree the default is set to 100fsb since that board takes both 100fsb and 133fsb tbirds...if it was set to 133 and you put a 100 in it wouldn't post and most ppl would lose their frekkin minds and start rma'ing stuff...

Manual is clear on what to change to switch to 133fsb...

I had a similar problem with my 1G t-bird....just go into your bios and switch fsb to 133 and it should be fine. If you dont know how then read your manual, it helps

The 100/133 jumper is on the left side of the mainboard next to the PCI slots.
Little yellow jumper...

The base 100/133 setting on the kk266 uses a jumper.
The bios-fsb changes are used to increase past the base 100 or 133 setting.

I'll confirm that the jumper is on the MB for the 100/133 selection. The printing on the board I got is a little confusing. The way the jumper selection is printed on the board seems to be the reverse of the correct way to install it. Just switch the jumper to the other two pins and reboot - you should see the correct speed.
