If they want to reverse it and face the voters that's how it is supposed to work, not them hiding behind the court.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

As a Democrat I'd dare the Republicans to roll shit back and let the voters who enjoy not being afraid to go out in public without getting their heads blown off.

I'm so sick of these chicken shit dems.😡

As if Republicans 'facing the voters' has ever meant anything. They already lose every popular election due to their policies, and still retain power over the entire govt. Really think it'll matter if everyone hates them further?

GOP got burned pretty hard going after the ACA last go around. Republicans don't even really talk about it now. This is because people saw them doing it and decided they didn't like it.

Anyway if I was president and had the margin in the Senate I'd want the following reforms (for starters):

Expanded SCOTUS
DC statehood
ban on partisan gerrymandering including at state level
universal mail in voting
floated House cap using the Wyoming Rule

I'd add PR statehood as well.

Unfortunately it would probably just desensitize voters further. That's shocking to people who grew up before Columbine, but for those that have grown up during/since? It's a regular occurrence. Everyone 'knows' that there's suffering as a result of gun violence, not sure how that would sway voters.
At this point it needs to be tried. What we are doing now isn't working.

Unfortunately, you would need the parents' permission first. It would backfire without.

It'll probably backfire either way, 'Arrogant Democrats trying to show us what we already know, highlighting their failures for the last 4 years when they had complete control over the govt, xx school shootings on their watch, shootings in liberal strongholds' yadayadayada.

Mass shootings are a symptom of our failures as a society, and aren't being addressed by anyone in power. Pushing it out as a reason to vote for one of the parties failing to stop it isn't a great look.

These are all pipe dreams. The Democrats can barely pass a reconciliation bill

As a gun owner for 20 years I think it should be put in precisely these terms to the voters.

They will just counter with, "See, this is exactly WHY you need a gun."

And their voters will simply nod and agree

I would counter with, "how would a gun have helped you at that parade?"

Duh, because the good guy with a gun would have been able to instantly snipe the bad the guy off the rooftop from 200 yards away without any collateral damage. Day saved.

And don't ask me if he is trained or not, for all we know this theoretical good guy might have been a pro back in the day on the Quake 3 railgun map The Longest Yard.

This is the legacy and the country that we pass on to our children and grandchildren. Those that survive, of course.

Obviously nothing but contempt for these shooters, but part of me wonders why? What happened to them that set them on this course? Was it unavoidable? Nature vs nurture? Throw their lives into the trash heap with the rest of the victims I suppose.
How long has some common media been telling them that the people who vote wrong are their enemies, and that they're essentially under siege constantly? Not just fellow Americans who think things should be run differently, but flat-out enemies of freedom?

I'm licensed to carry in Illinois. So if I were there, I would have dropped to one knee, pulled out my Ruger Maxx 9, took careful aim, and dropped him over the edge onto a parked vehicle. I would have been hailed as a hero, and I'd probably be receiving oral sex from Lauren Bobert (sp?) right now, after meeting Wayne Lapierre and Donald Trump himself.

If I were a black citizen and I tried to do that, my funeral would be Saturday.

well, GOP propaganda has always been based on lies. Since we know they will continue lying, we may as well do something that might actually work, as opposed to the old tactics which clearly do not.

I made comment about victims were married couple. Father shielded his 18 month old. Boy was found wandering alone. They did reunite him with his grandparents.

You're making an assumption it'll actually work. Throwing post-its at the wall and hoping they stick is a terrible way to win elections. I don't disagree with your statements that old tactics clearly aren't working, but I'm not sure parading dead people on national TV when you're the one that's supposedly been 'in control' is the way to handle the situation. Remember that humans are stupid, tribalistic people. If they don't think the current leaders are getting the job done, they'll get a new leader, regardless of who's fault it is.

If Sandyhook and Uvalde didn't change opinions or generate any significant change, nothing will. This is just pissing in the wind. All aboard the Freedum train. Toot toot!
Yeah I remember at the time thinking Sandy Hook was mostly white victims in the suburbs and if that did not spur change then nothing would.
Looks like I was unpleasantly correct. My next idea is start arming blacks in massive numbers. Last time that happened the NRA pushed for gun control.

You know, with one of their sources of income maybe having dried up, that might be more effective now than it would a few years ago.

Opinions can be changed, ask the advertising industry. Look at the number of people in the US who smoke compared to 50 years ago.

Two types of folks, those who ride out and fight, those who wait for the world to end.
