The Modi Government at work ....

India blocks 22 YouTube channels over national security concerns

TechCrunch|21 minutes ago
India has banned 22 YouTube "news" channels for spreading disinformation on subjects concerning the national security and public order. The banned YouTube channels had amassed a combined total of 2.6 billion viewers,

Sounds lie Putin at work, no?

Snarky hit and run attacks? Is that all you are capable of? I had asked you to list out the failures of the Modi government before and you didn't bother with that request. But you are perfectly happy to slander Modi with hit and run attacks like a rat hiding in the shadows of the sewer system.

Coordinated misinformation campaigns are a very insidious matter and any rational government will seek to curb such influences by legitimate means at their disposal. Your friends in the lefty/liberal ecosystem cry themselves hoarse over the Russians influencing the population in your countries. But when Modi administration tries to curb the same danger in my society, then Modi is Putin/Hitler/Genghiz Khan.

You are a hypocrite, Sir and you know it.

I think India has a weird China Complex. Like India and Indians know that they should be on the same trajectory as China (in terms of economic strength and manufacturing, etc) but they're not and its kinda messed with everyone's heads. Similar sized populations, similar historical depth, intelligent and industrious people, all the ingredients are there but they simply have not been tapped appropriately.
Not really no, while a lot us look at China & its growth as some sort of inspiration it is also true that without their one party system it would be impossible to replicate anywhere else in the world ~ that's just an objective fact. So while most pragmatic Indians may envy China we also don't want to give up on whatever remnants of democracy we have here. The bigger issue is the border dispute with them, they grabbed territory in the 2020 excursions & are hell bent on redoing their South China Sea shenanigans on the disputed border with India ~ they are the aggressor IMO & have rightly been labeled as India's biggest adversary by many in the 21st century!

In that sense it's not so much of a complex but a fear as really we can't go to war with China & unlike the Pakistanis they just grab land, or seas, wherever they feel like it 😑
Two things stand out to me as fundamental differences between Indians in the west and well-to-do Indians in the mother country. While both put a huge emphasis on academic pursuits, getting good grades, and professional careers—the work ethic just seems different. I think those in the west put a greater emphasis on working diligently/efficiently and with a sense of urgency. When I work with teams in India, that sense of urgency just…isn’t there. I don’t understand it. It’s not that they can’t do the work or aren’t smart—it’s like they just don’t get why something has to be done *now*.
Interesting so I guess you are a first(second?) gen American with Indian parents? For me what you learn at school or college is of more importance than just good grades or academic excellence. I'm sure if you'd have interacted with your relatives from India how they'd probably put an overt emphasis on where they learn or how good their grades are. We put too much credence on grades & not enough on learning, having first/second/third hand experience of what happens even in places like IIT, IIM just makes me mad. In India or for Indians, I know this doesn't apply to all, grades matter more than the kind of education/quality of learning you receive at schools, colleges ~ that's the biggest issue we have with our system!

Depends on who you are working with but yes in general that is an issue across the country, not just with the private sector. Wonder if you can relate to this ~

The only Indians I've dealt with have been the stereotypical gas station, motel or convenience store clerks who could barely speak English at all. Some years back a supposedly wealthy Indian businessman bought a near bankrupt hotel nearby with grand plans to restore and revitalize it. He appeared before city council and made all kinds of claims and promises ... got incentives ... and disappeared. Not a dollar was put into the hotel.

The only other exposure I've had is some reading on the caste system and the 'untouchables' of which I might be part of if I was there.

And of course, the various tech support call centers, but I don't know if those were in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka or elsewhere.

So you admit that you are ignorant about India and Indians, but won't let that tiny inconvenient fact stop you from making hit and run attacks on Modi, a man you know next to nothing about. You got fed some twisted talking points by your ecosystem and you use that to piss all over India, Modi and whatever strikes your fancy online.

Thats what we thought, another clueless pinhead talking out of his ass about Modi.

Like the Orange T Guy, Putin, Xi, Lukapunko, Orban and others, he doesn't need my help. He does it every time he opens his mouth.
Thats what we thought, another worthless opinion which deserve to be trashed into the dustbin. Your evasiveness says it all. You know nothing and you know you can't do anything about it except hit and run attacks like a coward.

Free Kashmir!!!

This shows your frustration in all its naked ignominy. Again you know nothing about Kashmir, you know you can't do anything about it, but only lash out at Modi like a rabid animal that has lost all control over its senses.

Kashmir as a part of the Union of India is as free as it can be. Kashmir will forever be part of the Indian Union and there is nothing you can do about it except rage and rant with your impotent frustration.

^^^ Dude, yer paddlin' upstream against a waterfall.

And you are careening off the edge of a clifftop. You go ahead and keep ranting and raging about Modi. You go ahead and keep day dreaming about separating Kashmir from India. It's not going to affect India in any meaningful way. Your opinions are worthless since they are not backed by any facts on the ground.

Modi will keep winning elections despite the likes of you, Kashmir will remain a part of the Indian Union despite your support for Islamic terrorism. Deal with it.

LOL!

Filth....and they love bathing in it.....

Many believers seek to have their ashes sprinkled in the river. Thousands of bodies are burned here. Many, however, are not fully cremated.

These practices stress the river, but they are only a small part of what it endures. By far, the most toxic pollution of this river is probably the least visible, unless you happen upon drainage canals like this one, which discharge millions every day of gallons of raw, untreated sewage.

Experts link pollution in the Ganga and other rivers to India's high rate of waterborne illnesses, which kill an estimated 1.5 million children each year. Researchers have also discovered the emergence of so-called superbugs in Ganges water samples, bacteria resistant to most commonly used antibiotics.

And this is a first-world nation? LOL!!!!

Oh well....maybe one day they'll begin to use the indoor toilets instead of trees, walls, or wherever they find themselves.

Thats what we thought! Another ignorant Lefty/Liberal displaying their true nature for the world to see.

Get it into your ignorant head, India is a third world country, not the first world.

The phrasing of your comment is more revealing of your bigoted mind than India.

And you guys have the audacity to lecture us on compassion, freedom and blah blah blah

You are losing your mind, man. You need a healthier way to deal with your frustrations as I have mentioned before.

The Judiciary is free. Indian media is free. The Indian Military is apolitical. The people vote regularly and throughout the years in local, state and central elections. India, is by large a democratic country and there is no danger of that ending. Not by Modi or anyone else. The people won't let them.

Always late to the party, aren't you?

This committee has been screaming about India for a long time, not just 2021. We know how these 'independent' 'bipartisan' commissions work. We know the only reason Democrats and Republicans ever get together is to screw with the rest of the world.

It's no coincidence the Sikhs are leaving en mass since the mid 1980's and are now pretty much settled in other countries with more freedom of religion.

Ahhh, so the Sikhs are migrating because of religion oppression in India? I would like more information on this claim.

It sucks but what’s the alternative? What can the US do to help these countries?

Its hard to complain when there isn’t a viable solution.

What’s funny about this though is that Hillary Clinton and others saw this which was why they supported fracking and other cheap energy alternatives as opposed to buying oil from Russia. But people are so short sighted and aren’t versed enough in most subjects to understand the reality. Hell, to this day, people still talk Shit about gore and his alternative energy push. Just imagine where we and the world would be had we gone all in. Now imagine the future we’d be in if we listened to Carter and started down the alternative energy path back then.

Would probably have my Mr Fusion by now.

I'd like someone to explain Dinesh D'Souza. What made him hate Black people so much?

He's conservative and forgets he's brown? Asians do tend to have prejudice against darker skin people.

Yeah, not uncommon. Had South Asian friends who were exasperated at their own parents' racism against black people, even while they themselves knew full-well what it was like to suffer full-on racism. In the UK South Asians being, at least in the old-days, every bit as subject to racism as black people...hence the peculiar term "poliitcally-black" that used to be used back then.

In some ways it was worse - when I was at school people would never dream of using 'the n word' becuase everyone knew it would quickly lead to violence, yet 'the p word' got used all the time. (my sense is it changed following the Southhall riots, when Asian rioters burned down a pub favoured by skinheads. If you want to be respected, you have to be prepared to burn down a pub, seems to be the lesson - it's the only language racists understand.)

These days prejudice seems to have become more about religion, specifically Islam, and _Hindu_ origin Indians are doing relatively well and are much more accepted than back then. Hence the number of them getting on in the Tory party. Plenty of them seem happy to join in the disparagement of Muslims, even.
