inexpensive but good AV for server

I'm looking for a good quality antivirus solution for win2k server and maybe Exchange that will not cost me a fortune.

Any recommendations?

I saw AVG mentioned in the forums here and checked it out. I like it. (I had gotten infested with the nimbda virus a couple of months ago and had to wipe my hard drive - however, the AVG software seemed to handle the virus better than the trial version of McAfee I downloaded.) There is a version you can pay for, they talk about it on their website AVG's Website.

Best of all, it's free.

i second AVG, been here on my windows workstation for almost a week no problems/overhead issues.

AVG Server Edition, for a network with 5 workstations, costs $78. This protects my Exchange Server and sets up a special version of AVG on my server that scans files when they are accessed remotely as well as locally. This seems like a very reasonably-priced solution considering the inflated prices of products like Norton AV for Servers. Is there a big difference in quality between Norton/expensive AV and AVG?

Every test I have been able to find ranks AVG in at least the top half of performers. The only place where the expensive programs occasionally are better is in detecting "wild" viruses, i.e., those that are not yet in the virus definition file. But the newest version of AVG uses (or more accurately, can use) the same heuristic approcah as the expensive guys, so maybe it is improved over the older releases.

I use AVG and it has been good so far. I also know more than a few people who have switched to AVG from Norton and McAfee because they got sick of paying a ton for the program and then having to pay a subscription fee every year for updates.
