Like there's this one girl who keeps trying to date me, and I simply won't do it. She's a good example of the type I mentioned above... not rich (I make more in a week than her parents make in a month) and literally told me, "you have a car, a job and a place... you're established" and later spouted off crap about wanting to marry me. Well, that's where I draw the proverbial line!

It makes me understand why that one guy created that dating service only for "hot" people.

It's also kind of annoying when you run into people who cannot drive for whatever reason. The girl I mentioned above told me it's too expensive to get a license . I am not a chauffeur and refuse to be someone's personal roaming enjoyment service.

I know a couple girls from various Asian countries that I've met mostly in my scanlating and fansubbing days. They're very nice to talk to and quite respectable. That's more of the type of person I'd be looking for.

After thinking about for a while, I have basically given up on the American dating sites. I think the odds are lower. I kinda agree with what you are saying when you say most girls on online dating sites are "damaged goods"... a cursory view of the posting by some of the women are kinda scary - if the postings aren't demanding, they border on being anti-male diatribes..

With that being said, I'm hoping most of the women in Asian countrys are a little bit more "adjusted". I don't really care if they are into money.. who isn't? Personally, if I ever get married and my wife wants to live at home taking care of the kids, I would have no issues with it at all.

Yea, even on the asian sites.. there are people who already have been married. The sucky thing I've noticed that the hotter women are divorcees or they are a little bit older... which I'm trying to stay away from...

I'm hoping most of the women are ok mentally -- not bitter, not insane.. just that they are doing the online thing for shitt and giggles; or to better their life by trying to improve their living conditions..yea, being poor in Asia sucks.. and their are so many poor people. My cousins who live in Lao, they make a lot of money (according to SE asian standards).. probably 400-500K a year.. I'm guess.. and well, the province that they live in.. they are famous.. In the America 400K is a lot, but not "bling"... They have live in maids and they pay the maids arround $30 a month.. its just ridiculous...

As long as I get to meet a few well-adjust gals via internet, it will be cool, imho. This current girl goes to bangkok university and her mom is a teacher. Her mom is divorced though which is somewhat of a concern... Oh well, fun times... hahahah....

With all the emails I get, it feels kinda nice in a bad way...

Sounds like you need to set up a session to re-enact the scene with the Devil and the one guy's family from Schwarzenegger's End of Days.

I think there's also a discrepancy in how successful you will be in online dating depending on your area as well. I mean, if you look at OkCupid for example, a large amount of their population seems to be in NYC. So given a larger population, you're almost assured a larger chance of finding someone decent. But given a handful... there's a good chance that they're all duds.

first off, online dating is by no means going to replace the fun and enjoyment, even the excitement of seeing the person you're dating in real life. phone conversations only go so far, also. the time you spend with the indivitual that you're interested in will help you better to realize any differences and likes/dislikes as opposed to the blindness of cyberspace boundaries. i'm not speaking against it, but i also don't support it.

to the guy who said he posed as a girl once for a profile, clearly that's an example that gives us the impression that some people have too much time on their hands. going overseas to find someone to date, are you telling me that you can't match up to the women here in the United States? that right there tells us something about your self-esteem. I always tell people that I meet, that my network is their network, and I don't try to make them feel obligated that they need to hook me up with their sisters or their best friends, of course not. but I'm pretty positive that if you meet enough people out there, everyone has someone for anyone.

live in the twin cities, our metro population combined with STP and MPS barely scratches the surface compared to the population of Fresno, California. personally, online dating isn't the most effective way to boost communication skills, socially and directly with people you meet, face to face. unless you're taking courses that teach you how to interact with real people, but hands-on with talking to someone outside will speak for itself.

for real, online profile searching can be fun, upto the point where you feel like you're a robot looking for someone to talk to. ban the bar scene if you're still that depserate.

Yes, I was the guy who posted a female profile on CL... I do stupid shite like that once in a while just for fun.... Actually, afew of my ex's that if I wanted to I could "match up" with them.. however, for some reason or another, it doesn't happen... I broke up with them. Most of them were very serious... every now and then, I think it could be my fault... I'm not sure. I'm good friends with several of my exes.. Maybe I expect too much? Maybe I have "self-esteem" issues.. I don't know. However, you can be rest assured its not because I have "LOW self-esteem" issues..

Being 31, I feel I have to be a little bit more serious... try to meet as many people as possible before I finally settle down. Besides, I've never dated anyone out of the country before.. it should be interesting.. its a different perspective...


I've dated friends of a friend before. Its cool and all, but I feel bad when it doesn't work out. I think my best friends wife is still kinda miffed that it didn't work out between me and her best friend. She helped introduce us to each other.


In any case, NO my social skillzs are NOT shiety like a 15year olds who's high on caffine and hopped up on WOW. I can talk to just about any women given that I have an "opening"... its just that well.. I don't know.. the women I am meeting in real life right now.. they don't appeal to me...

Man, I joined a foreign "dating site"... Its so different from the american dating sites. I have a profile on plentyoffish.. I ususally dont' get a lot of replies at all - but them I'm not very active on their forums.. On the foreign ones, I've had at least 100 replies.. and that within the last 48 hrs that I joined... weird..

That is the act of the truly desperate. There aren't any girls on this continent you can date?
