Installing AMD Athlon 64 Processor

After I installed the AMD Athlon 64 Processor,I lowered the lever but forgot to lock it before I installed the Heatsink.
Could this create a problem?

my retention bracket broke when i installed mine. that little plastic nubbin that locks the arm down... guys here said the heatsink will hold it in and i've no problems yet. so i say no

i think he got lucky. lock it down.
