These are my specs:
MB: Aopen Ax34 pro II
CPU: PIII 1.0Ghz Coppermine
768 MB PC133 Ram
LG 24X Cd-Writer
LG DVD drive
WD 40 GB HD (Special edition)
WD 80 GB HD (Special edition)
1 NIC
GeForce2 AGP card (4X)
Audigy Sound card
Fax/modem
1 80 mm case fan
2 60mm fans

Since i installed the 60 mm fans, my system freezes up when cold booted at about the moment the Nvidia drivers icon shows up. After reset, no problem.
I believe that my Power supply (250 W) is being drained to its limits.
Is there some website where i can calculate what wattage my PS needs ?

EDIT: i haven't tried yet to burn a cd while playing music on my dvd drive...

I assume you've tried unpluggiing the fans? I'm surprised you need all 3 (plus the PS fan) for just a 1 GHz.

Using the minimums from the page given by shervie2, my wattage gets to 241... on 250

Sonic587, My Psu is an aopen that came with the case (Quality?)

I'm gonna attempt unplugging a fan or two...
Then I'll post what happened here.

That might be cutting it a bit too close for confort... If you can afford it, you should pick up a new PSU.

Here's the one I bought a few months ago in anticipation of my new rig (i.e. you can keep it for your next build).

Zimdesign: Antec's Trupower is on my next rig's buying list...

I know how that goes heheh... I've been saving up for a new rig for a while now. I pretty much have the money to take the plunge now, but I am waiting to see how the socket 754 Sempron performs when it is released in August.

after 2 weeks of working right, it has had the same cold booting problem...
this time only because a Diablo II was left in the DVD drive
that tells you how much power is scarce in this system.
Any new part will definetly have to come with a PSU.
