You are correct. Some third parrty board makers included a neat little jumper that would let you select PPGA or FC-PGA for the socket 370, but these were mostly 815 and 810 boards. Your board does not support this, and since it is a socket 370 board instead of a slot1 board, you can't use one of those cheap $10 slocket adapters. Your best bet is to sell your mobo and Proc and buy a much more powerful modern mobo and chip combo.
