Isn't SPI 1meg the only Bench that's been run on either? Of course Dothan wins that hands down. Dothan plays Spi like it was built to run the damn thing. Even a low-clocked dothan crushes chips in Pi that would demolish it in almost any other bench.

Again, this is the Inquirer we're talking about, only one step below Tom's Hardware for accurate information. But if the article is to be fully believed, it's nice to see Intel finally getting away from the brute force approach, and concerning themselves more with elegantly eliminating heat and energy waste. Obviously the path Intel had chosen this past decade was about to lose all logic.

Look at the second slide from the bottom...note that Intel states that the performance per watt increase from Irwindale to Sossaman is 109%, and from that to Woodcrest is 62%...

That's less than 3 times, let alone 5 times...

More information is pumping out from The Tech Report:

At 14 stages, the main pipeline will be a little bit longer than current Pentium M processors. The cores will be a wider, more parallel design capable of issuing, executing, and retiring four instructions at once. (Current x86 processors are generally three-issue.) The CPU will, of course, feature out-of-order instruction execution and will also have deeper buffers than current Intel processors. These design changes should give the new architecture significantly more performance per clock, and somewhat consequently, higher performance per watt.

What this means is the power savings are a result of the performance increase. Tech Report wrought this. That about says it all;

Here 1 bench mark 0f yonah sossaman . Notice how the 2x1,5.Ghz Sossaman kills the X-2 The 2.0 yonah is good. At 2.13 it should also beet the X2 4800 . That why the 2.13 was given the X-50 number lol. That is 2 differant cores . but still very impresive this early. Right now it looks like no contest for yonah clock for clock.Yonah is just an appetizer for us Intel people. Merom and Conroe are coming. Conroe @3.0 GHz should be unbelievable

Actually, that would be FOUR Sossoman cores. Sorry, but the price of that isn't going to cut it. Not only is the chip not out yet (Sossoman or Yonah), but your synthetic benchmark doesn't mean diddly squat for anything. Plus, the X2 outclasses everything there, core for core.
