What is i7-5775C's voltage at load/idle with stock clockspeeds?
What is Intel's recommendations for peak voltage for Broadwell K?
Is Broadwell's operating voltage similar to Haswell's? (1.35v)

I ask these questions because I am seeing 1.4v to be necessary for Broadwell to narrowly beat Devil's Canyon. But is 1.4v safe for Broadwell?

1.4v on Haswell isn't NECESSARILY difficult to keep cool (not sure about long term stability...)
So is Broadwell able to take higher voltage than Haswell?
The lack of 'Part 2' from Anandtech's review is kind of disconcerting. Unless they are waiting for main retailers to buy a few non-ES chips for a good sample size. (?)

I am more concerned about lack of reviews or overclocking data from other sources. This site has been very hit and miss with reviews lately. I seem to recall Toms got to 4.2 or something like that.

At this point, I personally think I'm just gonna buy a 4790k from an enthusiast moving to Skylake.

Even with a 5-15% decrease compared to Broadwell or Skylake, Devil's Canyon will last me quite a long time.

All the shown 100 series boards havent had UniDIMM yet. And it seems the factor is packed away for now.

From 2017 we gonna start to see PCM instead of DDR as well. Tho begining in the server space.

That performance per watt in handbrake looks excellent. Damn, I wish they would put a laptop tdp version of broadwell iris pro in an affordable 14 or 15 inch laptop. Where *are* the tests of the full power laptop broadwell, btw? I would be much more interested in that than a desktop chip with a big honking igp.

They managed 4.1GHz with stock volts and 4.3GHz by raising voltage, not bad.

With the Intel Core i7-5775C running at 4.3 GHz with 1.35V to the core we hit 68C on the Corsair Hydro Series H105 CPU Water Cooler that we were using on the test bench. Not a bad temperature at all for this overclock!

Great performance in this particular test, better IPC + eDRAM in action.

2.4x performance scaling compared to Core i7 4970K's GT2 iGPU.

It also runs ~15-20 C cooler than Haswell quads under load:

Despite being 1-2C at most different in ambient temperature, you can still see huge differences between the processors at load on the same board, CPU cooler and thermal compound.

Awesome performance/watt, makes Core i7 4770K and Core i7 4790K look like power hogs in comparison:

Overall top notch CPU+iGPU performance and efficiency, I hope as soon as it becomes widely available prices come down to MSRP levels too.

Would be cool to utilize the iGPU for PhysX now that they're getting powerful enough.

OpenCL 2.0 can do that right now. Well sort of, it's more complicated than that . . . but the capability is there, and OpenCL 2.0 can tap into it. Whether or not that can be elegantly integrated into something like a game using Vulkan or DX12 is another matter.

I think you're correct. We don't know what the max "safe" voltage is for these things, but the voltages that reviewers are having to push to get past 4.2-4.3 GHz seem pretty high. I'm thinking the ES that HKEPC got was a golden sample.

4.3-4.4 is shaking out as the max OC for most of these things in reviews. We're seeing a bit of clockspeed regression. It's better than the 4.0-4.2 GHz max OC I predicted initially for them, so I'm glad I was wrong in that department.

What do you all think this bodes for Broadwell-E? I think I may wait for Skylake mainstream to do a platform upgrade. X99 keeps tempting me, but the upgrade path doesn't look so great.

I think Broadwell-E will be a better overclocker than Broadwell-C because the former is designed from the get-go for the high-performance server/workstation market, while Broadwell-C was originally aimed at laptops.

If Intel provided a 6 core mainstream desktop SKU where they had replaced some of the 4 core iGPU die area with 2 extra cores at the same price as their 4 core SKUs there would be demand.

Also, if Intel only sold 2 core CPUs with beefy iGPU at mainstream prices and priced the 4 core CPUs at high end enthusiast prices then people would not buy 4 core CPUs either. Doesn't mean there is not demand for 4 core CPUs among mainstream consumers.
