Will the performance of the Intel HD 4600 improve with more / better ram?
For a new build I have the option of 4gb 1333mhz or 8gb 1600mhz (same latency) and there is a $20 price difference (the 8gb corsair vengeance is on sale).
I had a chance to try out a laptop with HD3000 and took some notes. The biggest difference was going from single channel to dual.
For HD4600, Computerbase gave a rating to the difference between of DDR3-1333 vs DDR3-1666 of around 4%: http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/...el-haswell-grafik-fuer-desktop-pcs-im-test/4/
Those tests were run with "2x 4.096 MB Kingston DDR3-2400 (9-9-9-24)" which they then clocked down to run those other tests.
Value-wise, it's probably not worth going past DDR3-1866 with DDR3-1600 probably the best value. But dual-channel is essential.
Haha, that's funny. I still can't watch Nascar on TV, but after seeing my first Nascar race for the first time (Pepsi 400 in Daytona), I can honestly say it changed my entire perspective on the sport. Nascar is amazing when you're sitting in the stands!
