My first was my ex-wife, myself and another chick doing laundry in Gainesville. Two dudes came in and asked me if I could help them with something.
They looked ok, other than sunglasses at about 5 or 6pm...but people did that.
They asked me for $100 could I just leave for about one hour.
My immediate thought was these guys wanted to molest my wife and the other chick there. I told them over my dead body and WTF are they trying to pull.
He went on to say they aren't stealing my clothes just wanted some action in the back room area.
I went off the chain mentioned that was my wife...guy was like whoa...calm down we have a FEW girls in the car and just want to party a bit.
Anyway our laundry was done at the time, I told them I was leaving anyway...it was ok.
I went to the other chick and asked if she was ok with it...she was and mentioned something about $200 and renter's insurance and that she hoped they stole her clothes. They had approached her in the parking lot when she was smoking.
The laundry had a room like a lounge in back that you couldn't see from any of the windows...we didn't even knew it existed at the time and were using that place about once a month when our on-site laundry was full. It was a U-shaped room with a vinyl seats around the perimeter.
My next best experience just happened last week. Some lady told my wife to use her dryer since she still had 5 mins on it and it dried well. My wife loaded it up and most of our loads take 30-40mins so I put a buck in it.
10 mins or so later the lady comes back and tells her she needs her machine back as some of her clothes are still wet (there were other empty dryers and she had a full basket of clothes...it was a scam of some sort)...the lady gets pissed at her, I hear my wife getting loud (she reads I play the video games if we are not shopping in the plaza). I get the story and tell the lady most I am giving her is a quarter and that gives her 5 mins free...there is no way I am f'ing unloading my dryer. She goes on to say I am using 4 dryers for my stuff (some things dry at different temps/times/colors), why can't I give her one. I tell her the reasons, and again say one quarter is all you are getting.
She gets all p!ssed off and makes a scene saying "These white people took my dryer" and gets nothing, the laundry lady was not our regular one and offered nothing (the lady that's usually there when we wash I want to videotape her exchanges with the stupid customers)...later on she came back up to us trying to make small talk and say she is new to the area and asked about finding other laundries.
I told her all the ones we would never go back too. I hope my neighborhood's property values adjust more after the insane inflation Palm Beach County had.
