My setup is as follows:
mobo is Albatron KX18DS Pro, current BIOS; 2x512MB PC2700 Crucial; AMD 2800+;ATI9700Pro
I just setup my system to use a 120GB Maxtor SATA drive for my OS and then a Seagate 200GB SATA for use as storage, both internal hdds. Now, I have written 90GB of backed up data to the Seagate with no problems at all, but when I start up a game of WoW, I can hear the Windows sound that it makes when you connect/disconnect a removable drive, it does this about 3 or 4 times then locks the system up. If I remove the Seagate and boot up, I can play WoW no problem at all. It is driving me crazy, anybody have a suggestion or anything?
Also, the 120 Maxtor I had running previously in my system along with 2 other IDE drives, no problem. Now, I reformatted the Maxtor and put XP-SP2 on it, then installed my 200 Seagate, and have taken the IDE hdds off totally, normal functions did not produce any problems. I did have to play around with BIOS & RAID settings for a minute to get Windows to like the setup. I have the drives setup as 2 different arrays, each for the full capacity of that drive.
This is happening on a fresh OS install, nothing is on the drive except XP-SP2 with all the updates and WoW, current patches. Both hard drives show up in Disk Managment as Dynamic & Healthy, doesnt show up as removable. I can do normal stuff; email, internet, basic file moving, etc with no errors or problems, this has happened only when starting this game, I have not tried another game yet.
Thanks!
I plan on checking my system logs when I get home from work, I didnt think of that earlier, see what it has to say.
