Well yeah i will agree with that.. I only wish the UK Government and BT would do something about it like upgrade to FIBRE or something!!! (im not on about the breakfast stuff either!!)

except japan. they get 100Mbit up/down in thier homes if I'm not mistaken. I used to know a guy that lived in London, I could have sworn he was getting 10Mbit down 5Mbit up.

Yeah, Sweden has 10mbit/sec down and up connections, with 100mbit/sec connections available in people's homes.

I was pointing out to Trente that, contrary to his obvious beliefs, not everything outside of the almighty USA is backwards :roll:

well maybe Id live in sweden for the net then uk for my family and then the us for driving as petrol is cheap as chips!!

Also, if i'm not mistaken, most of the 'content' of the internet rests on American soil, so you mostly download more MB from America than any other place in the world (unless you restrict yourself to native sites). Hence: Americans enjoy the best all-around connections and ping statistics than anyone else!

Heres my test... (I used Mega Path if that makes any difference...) slower than normal..

It's about $45 a month. Yes, it does max out, but not all the time. My connection is often faster than sites I visit, and my speeds are limited by them.

Well it would be great to have those kinds of speeds but like i said in a previous post, I dont think that the UK will get there anytime too..

My point is - as your sig also suggests - that the internet was American at first, and later on became world wide. as much as you'd want the internet to become a decentralized network, it's not gonna happen. the foundations & roots are American and shall always remain American, unless a new network is established with the intention and idea of making it decentralized from the start. the fact that the internet was born American is inevitable, unfortunately. I also would like to note that I, myself, am not an American, so I have no interest or favour in the issue
