Internet connection splitting

I have Covad DSL and 4 computers hooked up to the DSL via a 5-port Linksys hub. It never did this before, but now the internet connection is splitting up 4 ways, so each computer is essentially only getting 375k rather then 1.5Mb downstream and only 96k up rather then 384. So anyways, my internet has been crawling, but like I said, it never split up the connection before, and when I disconnect everything my speed flies. I tested on DSL Reports and CNET....according to DSL it goes from around 100k to 1.1Mb when disconnecting 3/4 of the computers.

I know there is a workaround with this, but does anybody know how? How can we just "share" the connection without actually splitting it up....?

Your using a hub right?

Try a router maybe, I believe those spile the connection equally and then do some priority stuff, so if one computer is not using any banwidth, it doesn't cut the bandwidth of the other 3.

I'm having the same problem. I have talked to my ISP and they indicated that I had to change my modem. I am verrry skeptical about
their diagnosis, but I have noticed that all the new dsl connections in my area are getting an entirely different modem.
Anyway, I hope someone who has that golden tidbit of info reads your question and replies soon. I would love to know the answer.

P.S. I am currently using a speed stream dsl router and have used the Linksys. I still have the same problem.

This problem just started for me also. I have an efficent networks speedstream 5260 dsl modem. I have 4 static IPs. The modem goes into the uplink port of a 4 port Netgear 10/100 hub. I have 1.5/384 dsl through SWB. I only use 2 of the IPs (for now) one goes to my web server & the other goes to my proxy server. Before today the proxy connection was fine.. I could download at close to 100% rate (with no one else using) But for whatever reason today the connection dropped and was suckin' hind-tit (as my coach used to say). Did several speed tests (cnet,dslreports,2wire) and they confirmed on my pc (through proxy) was 30kbps-150kbps with modem split to hub. Connected straight to proxy (web disconnected) I was back up to 700+kbps. What is the flippin' deal here? I don't get THAT much web traffic by gosh!

Thanks for any nfo!
