Internet locked out

I guess this is the place to post this issue I currently have.

AT the momment, I live in a duplex with my uncle.
Upstair is my aunt, her husband and my 2 cousin.

Since I moved out here I have been using her wireless internet which she was cool with.
However there has been issues with the connection and I told her about chances are our neighbors are logging on since she doesnt have a WEP secured encryption.
ALso the internet kept dying by me (which she doesnt know) by using Azures however she wouldnt give me access to the main computer to fix all this solution, she would just rely on Customer service..
im cool with that.. however in the end now, she ended up getting a new dlink, finally added security and I realize when I scan for wireless network, I no longer see approx 7 diffrernt computer names... so I was correct about those people leeching off.
HOwever she blocked me out and she doesnt know how to allow me in.
so she basically said, just get my own...

i would like to, however my uncle is planning to move out soon, so I dont want to enter a 1yr contract and be screwed and I really do need the internet for my school and submitting my work as well.. tired of driving to internet cafe as well.

So now im on her computer and although im not gonna tamper by putting me in cause if something happens, and she realizes it, she will be mad. So i will respect that.
however I was thinking, is it possible I write all the data I see on the netwrok connection
such as:

adress, ip, gateway, etc when i rightclick on status>detail
the only thing I must figure out which probably wont be that hard of a task, is if she has a WEP password... i'll ask her on that but if she wont figure, im hoping I can bypass without interfering or messing with her main computer that is hosting it.

any suggestions?

No surfing allowed.

10 hrs free / month with Juno and then another 10 hrs with NetZero.

That is about 1 hr per day for transmitting stuff back and forth to school.

Anything else, go to a public library or pay for use.

Many schools have modems you can call into for free internet. Mine does.

well my uncle and I dont have a phone line either so dial-up is also out of the question.
my budget isnt a problem but it is when we will be moving and I wont know if the provider provides at the new location (which i dont know where it is either).

I want to get comcast, cable and will once we move but for the next month or 2 im stuck.
1 hour isnt enough either though and the cafe becomes costly in longterm...

all i really need to find out is, getting my computer wireless adapter to "scan" find her network.
before it showed 7 different computers until she changed it.
now noone shows up... im on her comp now and I know the network name but when i scan it, it doesnt show up.
she has it properly connected but i wont mess with her settings, as long as I can "scan" and find it, i pretty much hoping she has password lock and if so, she will give me the pw.

basically, she doesnt know why my computer cant find her network since my uncle laptop, my cousin laptop finds it and my psp finds it but not mine. So she aint gonna mess with it.. that is why she told me to get my own than.
im using a wireless adapter that previous worked and now its no good.
than I installed my old wireless pci card and doesnt find it either.

Why not get broadband and transfer it to your new place when you move? As far as I know, contracts aren't tied down to addresses. You could also share access with your uncle's laptop using Internet Connection Sharing.

when he is here and not at work or out of town, i do use his laptop, wont bother with accessing from his laptop. (edit, although i havent tried ICS, doubt it since when he is home and using his laptop I dont find his computer name on the scanning list either)

just trying to find out why im unable to scan/find the network.

i got all this info now:
workgroup name
network name
physical adress
ip
subnet mask
default gateway
dhcp server
dns
wns

so ima try to input all those info manually from my comp and hopefully see something works.

as far as contract and not tied to 1 location.. true.. but if the other location they dont provide to.. than im screwed and paying for nothing.
and since my uncle doesnt know where we are moving.. i cant call and verify to sign up.

Have you tried using Netstumbler to see if you aunt's AP shows up?

On another note, not all broadband services have contracts. For the ones tht do, ask them what their policies are if you have to move to an area where you can't get service. For what it's worth, you really should be using your own connection if you're going to be using torrents and whatnot.

No offense but this situation seems made up. Not saying it is but the shens flag was automatically raised while reading your post. Comcast is month to month and they usually have a 6 month for half off deal with free installation. If money isn't the problem then why is it a problem to get your own internet through comcast?

It seems like she jsut doesnt want u to use it. The story sounds like some stupid excuse.

Perhaps someone more knowledge about computers in her family, such as your cousins, filtered your MAC out, or, turned off ESSID broadcasting, thus you will not see it. You will have figure out the wireless network name and enter it manually.

nay the story isnt made up.
im not using comcast cause we origianlly had comcast and she paid premium speed which we never recieved and inquery the subscription based around our area, alot of users on the same bandwidth i suppose decrease performance in speed.

i'll look into SBC however, in the los angeles area, what other providers are there that are good?

earthlink i have been hearing lots of good things now..
all i had back in florida was bellsouth and never had issues with them.
i was told sbc is contract.
however now im able to scan and find the wireless network but I have to wait till my aunt arrives to ask her for the key, that is all.
but to prepare ahead what do you guys recommended as providers?

perferably cable since my uncle and I wont have a phone line so dsl is out of the question (unless they provide a cheap dsl deal, good speed and $0-$5 charge for phone line)...
