Prontospyder, getting from one end of a house to the other with a moderate data rate connection is one thing; getting from one end of a building to the other past lighting fixtures with electronic ballasts, HVAC systems with variable speed drives, isolation and voltage transformers, switchgear, switching power supplies, and all the other heavy electrical equipmtent in todays building environment is quite another. I use building powerlines to send command signals to building systems including heating, ventilating and air conditioning and it is no simple matter. Conditions change from day to day as noise generating equipment is turned on and off in the surrounding area. Being able to get a signal from here to there one time and being able to demonstrate the kind of mission critical reliability that people are used to demanding and getting from network providers is separated by a vast gulf that is not likely to be bridged soon by anyone but crafty salesmen.
