If it's only labeled IMAX at this point in time, it's likely Digital, which IMAX Digital is basically high-quality 2K projection.

70mm means it will be a film projector, and 70mm film simply cannot be matched yet with digital. And 70mm IMAX (70/15, 15 perforations) is horizontal spool, as opposed to 70mm film (70/5), which is vertical spool like 35mm cinema film. Which is to say, 70mm is great, 70mm IMAX is divine.

I think the IMAX theaters with 70/15 are basically the theaters that achieve all the best standards of IMAX certification, with the largest projection screens and typically the best sound quality (for IMAX).

IMAX Digital theaters can be as "basic" as a converted auditorium at an existing multiplex theater (they may upgrade the sound and slightly increase the projector screen, and remove some seats, but they are a far cry from "proper" IMAX - they do get the IMAX-certified digital projection system). They can be much larger and quite close to the best IMAX theaters, but not as often. I think the competing "Super Format" theater options might give most of the digital IMAX theaters a run for their money, but I haven't compared.

Looks corny. So we have interstellar space travel (how?) and they are still using desktop PCs? I want to see a realistic movie where we go land on another planet and start a civilization. I don't need to see monsters, chase scenes or Michael Daddy Caine playing the same freaking role in every movie he does!

i thought about this for long, and due to my infallible process of "thinking stuff up" i declare that it's impossible to film anything realistic-looking more than 20 years in the future.

Ah right, I also forgot that the IMAX Digital consisted of two 2K projectors that overlay their image on top of one another, basically doubling brightness but increasing the richness and contrast. (This is also how they enable 3D... Not sure if they change settings like brightness when using both for 2D)
They also usually use higher bitrate files compared to most digital theaters.

If I remember what I read when they did the renovation, this is the 2nd or 3rd largest movie screen in the world North America.
