Awesome film. Just came back from seeing it a second time.
Me and my wife really enjoyed it. That one part literally made me jump in my seat. The people who have watched it know what I'm talking about lol.
Two parts that really stood out to me:Overall, a lot of the cinematography was some of the best I've ever seen. The way they ended the movie makes me wonder if Nolan may expand on this story. The scene where they're trying to dock with the damaged ship was crazy intense. It made me feel like I was watching Gravity all over again. The scene when they come out of the worm hole and we see ourselves coming out to the spinning universe... I actually got a little dizzy and wished I could have seen even more of it. Seeing it on an IMAX screen made me feel like I was actually in space.
Just saw it this afternoon in IMAX as well. Initially planned to see it at a 70mm theater but the pre-sale tickets sold out already :\ and there was a decision to see it today.
The sound mixing I think was the worst part of the movie. Some dialog scenes just weren't loud enough (that I really pined for subtitles), but a couple other times the music/effects were so loud it crackled ear wax.
But it's a really good movie otherwise...still digesting, but at least a 9/10 for me.
I'm a sci-fi buff but I don't think this is a 10/10...more like a 8/10. The first 1/3 felt really weak. IMO the film only picked up steam from the ice planet onwards.
I thought my theatre's speakers were the issue, but I'm starting to see that it was probably the sound mixing instead. I definitely missed some dialogue in there as well... makes me wonder what it would sound like on a Dolby Atmos system...
I think our Imax had it loud enough, as I don't think I missed any dialogue. I did, however, notice how incredibly bombastic the soundtrack got.
I wonder how the home mix will sound, because while the big-screen was a crucial part of the experience, I will definitely be watching this at home more than once in my lifetime. It'll be a good movie to enjoy every few years. And I need a new one for that, as The Fountain has gotten the most play of my Blu-ray collection.
That's actually quite funny to me considering I'm the only one of my friends/family that enjoys The Fountain. I thought it was amazing and everyone else just makes fun of me. Not surprisingly, it goes the same way with Noah. I think Aronofsky capture more humanity in that movie than any Bible story could. My mom just complains incessantly about the watchers

The sound issues must be at the theater level. I had no issues whatsoever other than a part where some whispering is going on. Blamed the fact I couldn't hear it in the fact that my hearing actually sucks.
