Intuit Tax Freedom Project (Restrictions Apply)

Intuit is doing their Tax Freedom Prodject once again this year. It includes FREE federal preparation with E-File. If you live in a qualifying state (AL, AR, AZ, GA, ID, IA, KY, MA, MI, MN, MO, MS, NY, ND, NC, OK, OR, RI, SC, VT, WV) you can do the state preparation and E-File for Free.

To qualify you need to have either:
Earned an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $30,000 or less
-OR-
Qualify for the Earned Incocme Credit (with up to $39,783 AGI)
-OR-
Served as Active Duty Military for 2007 (with $54,000 AGI or less)

The other limitations are that you cannot have any "complex" filing situations like if you have any investments or rental properties.

Pretty nice deal if you are a starving college student like myself. I know any money I save in tax preparation will just go right back to pizza and beer!

I meet the less than $30k but I got a 1099-INT and 1099-DIV. Also, I have to file for AL and GA (both on the list), any idea if I can use the freedom edition? The $74 fee to file in 2 states and my federal return is enough to make me want to do this by hand. x(

If you are eligible, you can go through IRS's Free File website to file your federal tax return for free.
